Can anyone recommend any decent sites which would give newbies a good source of info before buying their first player? I'm writing a short piece for our staff mag and thought it might be nice to include some links to sites at the end.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    dapreview.net
head-fi.com (search thru archives). Go on headphones and portable audio sections
I suppose cNet buying guides (I recc hesitantly 'cos they are commercially sponsored)

while you're at it, explain how decent headphones can improve experience (see 2nd site)

If you wanna see the mp3 player in action, cnet has some good flash videos, and you can see the sizing of them, by looking at a few different vids. And if you wanna head into removable DAP, then head over to www.minidisc.org , they got plenty of info on md's, and also really good forums.

not to mention ripping music can affect SQ. EAC + Lame is said to be best way to create MP3s: http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC#General_Guides PM me if you want a brief explanation

    Important Questions
which formats does the player support?
    will you download music?
does the player support copy controls e.g WMA playforsure
if I download music off x site will it work on x player?
