Yeah yeah I know; size matters. However I would like to replace the Yamaha YST-SW40 that I bought with a better one. It MUST be the same size as the Yammy (give or take a cm here or there- certainly not as big as a Rel Q100E) - 252 x 320, as it's behind the left speaker in the corner.

Is it possible? Or asking too much?

Music speakers are Ruark Etudes; so the subwoofer must be good upto 50hz.

Or if it's possible- I have enough room behind each speaker- so I could try dual small subwoofers, taking pre-out from the 8000S into each subwoofer.

Since I don't have the subwoofer loud in a music system SPL output isn't important; mainly being tight, not sloppy or boomy and with a decent crossover (as I'll be sending low-level, full range)

hmm maybe a MJ Acoustics Reference 100? Or Reference 150, which would just about fit.

btw, this is nothing to do with my soon to be SVS, as that's only to be used for AV.

    Thanks

Listen to anything in the MJ Acoustics range as they all seem to be be highly rated by the AV and music press. I have only heard the Pro 50 but that is an excellent little sub.

Did a quick search- the MH 100 is £350 and the 150 is £550.. does anything know of anywhere cheaper?

I just looked on Creative Audio's site.

    Thanks

IPLacoustics the cheapest sub Kit I can see is £271.50 + £14 P&P Me thinks the BK would be a better bet. Or is it too big Nathan?

Which Creative Audio are you talking about, not the sound blaster people?????

Must be going mad of course it isn’t, that would Creative Labs, sorry Have not woken up yet.

I’m interested myself in a decent musical sub and had thought about a kit build but cant find anything better value than the XLS200, unless anyone is willing to sell me an ASW675 for under £300.

Cheers for that Mufu, that BK looks good. Cheaper than the MJ's with a higher powered amp and 10" (rather than 8")

Pity I don't have room for the Storm (music) and the SVS (AV) as the Storm is probably a better subwoofer than the BK. I'll still keep the Storm; just use it in another room.

If you feeling like spending a little more, let us not overlook B&W's ASW675 :)

Looking at the space where the Yamaha is- looks like I can't replace it, there's not enough room.

Unless I buy a front projection of some sort and that'll give me more floorspace.

I'll have to stick to the Yamaha for now.

Nah not looking to spend that much. He's asking too much for it anyway. It's second hand, therefore it's worth 50% of the value :p

I'll work out if I can squeeze that BK XLS 200. Just about. Might need to put it a hydraulic press though! :)

No thanks. I'm trying to replace the crappy Yamaha. Why would I want to buy another crap (or worse) sub?
