Good news for any Quad II owners

    Just something worthwhile for any owners of these lovely old valve amps out there.

    Most of you will be aware of how difficult and expensive it's becoming to get original GEC KT66 valves for these,and how virutally all of the modern replacements have a very different shape from the originals.
    I've found,and tried an identical looking equivalent from Golden Dragon,which not only has the correct shape,but also performs identically in electrical terms,right down to heater current,which has often been a problem with copies,and the hard-driven Quad mains transformer.

    These sound pretty much as good as the originals,perhaps not quite as detailed,but that well be down to individual variations,and at £110 for a matched set of four,a lot cheaper as well.
