My good lady is moaning all the time cuz she wants to play Tomb Raider and we have an Xbox (which I told her it was coming out for before Sony nicked it). Now, I'm about to buy a new laptop and am considering a pretty good one with fast gfx so I can play splinter cell in lay-by's (as you do). So, if I get this thing and make sure it has video and audio out, I can plug it into the big telly and hi-fi and play games at home (including TR). Problem is, I want a controller similar to the PSX one so that it has enough buttons and she won't moan that it's too different etc. I guess it would have to be USB too. Any ideas?
I use one of these. They do a wireless one as well. I use mine to play on TR TLR and it seems fine. the only thing is i can't 'configure' it for some reason bo its not in anloge. You could always get a PS2 or Xbox adaptor so you can use them on the laptop.
you can get this from play and use a ps2 gamepad (ordered mine yesterday):- http://www.playserver4.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=PC&title=114167
Thanks guys, I'll give that a go. Just realised that TR actually works quite well on my current Vaio (mobile Radeon) so maybe I'll try hooking up to the tv and try it.
It's only £6.99 so worth a try at least. I'll give it a go when I get mine and let u know if it's worth shelling out for. I got it mainly for when the angel of darkness comes out.
Works with tomb raider but haven't tried owt else. I'm not really into platform games and purely bought for when the angel of darkness comes out. I would hope it works with it else I'll be well miffed.
If your'e still interested in a PC gamepad, you could have a go with the Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power. It works quite well on PS2 ports on the PC.
Beware you won't be able to use a controller on the latest games like Splinter Cell and Enter The Matrix. I find this pretty annoying since I splashed out a while ago on a force feedback Logitech, but a lot of the new releases are keyboard & mouse only.
I really cant get used to using a mouse n keyboard for Pc games is so used to a joypad from years of Console gaming
im exactly the same and i know purists go mad but i hate using the keyboard and mouse . its really ruining PC gaming for me as i just give up and go back to a console . I think ill try this adapter thing . I bought Planetside im really getting into it but just can`t get along with the keyboard and mouse .
Stick with a keyboard and mouse for fps games much better for accurate aiming and reaction times- especialli important on online multiplayers.
