    Hi

Am finally setting up my DVD/Plasma thru DVI/HDMI

Anyone tested or found much difference in quality between a branded and non branded DVI/HDMI cables...

Would like to maximise the picture quality of my set up... Was should I lookout for?

    Cheers!

I've read that if you're doing some distance data travelling, Lyndy is the way to go.

I have it on good authority direct from a technical guy of a British cable manufacturer who, in a face to face conversation, told me not to waste my money by buying one of his expensive cables and stick with my generic 2m HDMI->DVI cable that I bought on ebay. It would however have been a different story if my requirement was for a longer length.

As ianh64 says, with longer lengths it really is better to get a good quality cable when it comes to DVI signals. Supra have developed new digital cables which are specifically designed to be used at longer lengths, but they won't be out for 3 to 4 weeks.

Guess if I need only 2-3m... the 'brandless' cables on ebay are equally good then? :)

At that length, a generic cable should do a good if not pixel perfect job :smashin:

    Hello all

monotone - I'd suggest a shoot out and view a couple of different cables in your system and see for yourself if you can spot any differences.

Molex vs. BetterCables vs. WireWorld (Starlight5) covers £30 through to £250 (UK SRP's) for a 2m HDMI and can be an interesting test.

ianh64 - I'd suggest your 'technical' mate should make decent not expensive cables :)

taffyoyo - if only Supra had got it right first time around!!!

    Best regards

    Joe

    Hello taffyboyo

Be assured those discussion happened a year ago when it became apparent that there was a problem with the original Supra DVI cables at 12m with anything above 576P.

    Best regards

    Hey

As most of my set up cables r from Audioquest (I'm a believer of Audio cables), and has been really happy them... am tempted to use their HDMI cables too...

But I'm texted coaxial & toslink cables (Digital) before, and the difference is pretty minimal. So am not too keen to spend twice the price for an Audioquest HDMI.

Anyone using the Audioquest and are really impressed/disappointed by them?

Joe - You may have more clout doing this since you stock their analogue cables ;)

I'm after a 5m DVI-HDMI cable - and just can't justify spending £40+ on it to be honest. It's to go between my PC and my Sanyo Z3 projector, and I'm all for maximising quality and not buying a cheap cable off eBay when I've got good kit to connect, but it's just a lead... yeah, lots of material technology goes in, I know, but still...

Anyone want to recommend a good deal they've seen on 5m DVi-HDMI cables?

    Thanks
    DM

    Hello all

taffyboyo - I guess Jenving (Supra) wanted to ensure they got it right second time around :)

dancingmatt - a Molex 5m DVI>HDMI works well and should just about fit your budget.

    Best regards

    Joe

I'm in exactly the same boat, linking a PC to a Z3 projector. I've found this 5m DVI-HDMI lead here for just under £20 with postage.

I really can't warrant paying £50 for a cable so hopefully this will do a decent enough job.
