I normally buy region 1, but it appears that the region 2 version of Gone in 60 Seconds has more extras. Is this the one to go for, or is there anything else I should be aware of e.g. poor transfer, censorship etc?

Go for R1, but go for the original film, made in '74.

Any particular reason? From the descriptions at Play247 it looks like the R2 is better i.e. it has "The Big Chase", "Zero to 60", "Wild Rides", and more vs. the region 1 version's "storyboards" and "behind-the-scenes footage".

Of course, if the R2 is cut then I wouldn't hesitate on getting the R1. Otherwise, I'm a sucker for extras!

Forget the remake, buy the original. (As per my complete 1st post, now edited for clarity on the subject!).

Looks like R1 it is then. Thanks for the info. Haven't seen the original, but enjoyed the remake. I wasn't going to buy it, but other members of my family have persuaded me!

Just bought the R2 (convenience mostly) and can confirm that the soundtrack, while good, is low bitrate Dolby Digital. I bet the R1 soundtrack is 448kbit/sec!!

Surprisingly the 2000 remake is a R1 disc with the lower 384 kbs bitrate.

The '74 original has DTS in addition to DD.

(I still prefer Eleanor 2000 though, even if the original movie towers over the remake)

i bought the R1 release months back, and it seems that the R2 release isnt any different,
granted there are some cases when the R2 release gets more goodies, but in this case i bought it for the movie alone :D
i think this farce with the T2 UE on R2 is hilarious, my m8 is still waiting for it to come out, im glad ive got my R1 release ;)

No doubt about it, it has to be the R1 '74 origonal film, the remake just can't 'Eleanor' it. The DTS soundtrack is superb as well.

Not seen the Original myself, but i saw the remake in the Cinema, but i was not to impressed with it at first. However, i did by the DVD, after watching it again, i realised i really really liked it. By the way, the Region One version has a fantastic picture!
