    I've just found out at very short notice that I have to pop over to Houston for 5 days.

    I've been teetering on the brink of buying a projector for a while now.

    An extremely stong £ vs. $ combined with the possibility of a bargain may well push me over the edge.

    1) Am I mad for considering buying a DLP projector with no way of returning it if it goes 'pop' after a week?

    2) Do the potential savings outweigh the potential cost of UK repairs if 1) occurs?

    3) Does anyone know of a good retailer in the Houston area?

    4) Any other advice?

    I'll be able to run quick tests in my hotel room using my laptop, but nothing that you could call a full workout.

    Oh, and I'll be travelling business class so I'll be taking it home as hand luggage!

    I guess alot depends on exactly what machine you want..... some will be pretty close in price between here and there

    Yeah, it's been a spur of the moment thing. I assumed the States would have rock bottom prices.

    I'll do some research tonight.

    Immersive Virtuoso DLP;

    UK Price £8000
    US RRP $8500 = £5120 (Street price is even less, £4500 or so)!

    Thats at the extreme end of price difference, as Buns says, there are quite a few where UK price is close to the US price. You need to work out your budget and decide which pj you want.

    I wouldn't bat an eylid about doing this.

    Yeah, this is my first foray into the PJ world. I wasn't really looking at the high end stuff!

    In that case best to stick to a UK source as most of the pj's at the low end are roughly the same price as the US.
