Like the title said and I know this has been asked a ton and I have read through these threads thoroughly too. I have put in tons of hours researching between the two and once I think that I have settled on it, I read things about the other TV that makes me question my choice. Repeat this 2x. I need someone to just tell me "GET THIS ONE" so I can settle this once and for all.
My usage: I watch mainly in the evening. A lot of movies and TV shows, I also have a PS5 and Switch. My watching vs gaming split is probably 70/30. I will be using an Apple TV 4K so the OS doesn't bother me that much. I do have to point out that my Apple TV 4K is the first generation model and not the 2021 version, would this affect anything? I've read from a few that it affects Dolby Vision blacks but it's just one anecdote so far.
My important pros for the Sony:
My important pros for the LG:
That's pretty much it. I feel everything is telling me to pick Sony and yet I'm still so torn.
Does semi-gloss/glossy make a big difference in image depiction quality?
And just to throw an outlier out there, what if I just go LED and go big and get a 75" Sony X90J for the same price? The distance from my couch to the TV will be 7 feet however, not sure if that'll be disorienting.
Anyway, please help me settle and pick one! THANK YOU!

My important pros for the Sony:
- Better PQ from all the things I've read, better HDR. Slightly brighter.
- Better upscaling. I do watch SD content occasionally and I love to watch old movies.
- Better motion handling.
- Better calibrated out of the box?
- Image retention. I heard this happens more often with Sony?
- Hud/Logo dimming when playing video games?
- Semi-gloss screen? would this make colors look more "dull" compared to glossy?
- $100-200 more expensive depending on where I look.
My important pros for the LG:
- Glossy screen helps colors pop and it feels more "glorious" to look at.
- The stand it comes with is more classy looking to me.
- $100-200 cheaper depending on where I look.
- Better gaming settings/features
- Upscaling. I read that SD content can look grainy.
- More saturated colors vs natural colors of the Sony
