I'm thinking about changing my Tannoy R3 floorstanders to something smaller but obviously don't want to downgrade the sound quality so need some recommendations around £500 for a pair plus a matching centre.

These will be used with -

    Denon 3805
    Arcam DV88+
    Servo 15

    Hi JIT,

Take a listen of the Quad 12L at £480 or if bass isn't such a major concern the 11L. These also have a matching Quad L series center.

    Great speakers for the money.

Also try Kef Q2's with Q9C.

I got my S85's from the classifieds 2 pairs and a centre for £1000. I have seen L,C,R S85's for about the £600 mark in there. Stick a wanted ad in :)

you'll have to give the Dynaudio Audience 42 (£400) or 52 (£520) consideration at that price too..

They go much lower than the Quads, with a sweeter top-end too.

The Quads will sound a bit lifeless with a 3805 in comparison to the Dyns ( based on my testing with a 3803)
