Seeing the big event has begun (albeit under a few inches of water) i thought id start a thread for anybody going to festival in the next few weeks and those who wish to pass on stories or good/bad bands theyve seen. Im going to t in the park in a fortnight (only 3 miles up the road from my house).

    Let the music begin........... :smashin:

Once again Handells' Water Music would seem appropriate. The first week of Wimbledon usually means rain though this time not in SW1 (or wherever Wimbledon is)

Because I can't stand them thats why! Listening to those two plod their way thru yet another 60's influenced, blues grunge number is just too much for me. Each to his / her own though. At least they're better than the godawful Strokes.

I must admit I can't listen to The White Stripes for more than a couple of minutes, but each to their own. Watched Echo And The Bunnymen last night, looking at Ian McCulloch made me realise how old and fat I'm getting, he really hammed it up last night and looked a pratt in his shades !
Are Interpol "Joy Division wannabes" ?

Apparently the 'Killers' did an awesome set. I was going to go just to see them. Awesome. for the 'White Stripes' set, I thought it was nothing short of phenomenal!

Must admit, none of the bands were very inspiring. When Coldplay get voted best of the bunch, it makes you feel all glowy inside that you didn't bother wasting all that money on a ticket........... :D Most of these 'new bands' sound awfully like re-hashed, 70's new wave stuff as well. Just like them, they're as dull as dishwater too.

I know what you mean, I saw Hundred Reasons play 2 sets last night and they were awesome. Three excellent new songs and a storming cover of Back in Black  . Give me proper British rock any day. :)

The problem I have with the Stripes is that it reminds me of the very worst of Velvet Underground, with the drummer who just "pats her drums" in time to the singing.

Watched a fair chunk last night on BBC 3 until that Rufus bloke took over, sorry I don' know who he is. But I felt that the first two days were nothing short of junk. I can't stand any of the ones I had heard of and nearly all I hadn't.

Sorry but The White Stipes, give me a break.

I had given up on music at the beginning of this year, and apart from Floodedstatue, eviljohn2, Overkill and a couple of others who I apologize for forgetting had given me some pointers, I would still think that the world of music was on a totaly different wavelength to me, and now I know there are good bands out there. Pity then none were at Glasto.

Yeah, I'd go with that John. Old Mo Tucker wasn't the greatest! Apparently Ringo was devastated when they broke up, as she was the only drummer around that made him feel good about himself........... :D

I've heard better 'Bunnymen' performances at Karaoke nights .

Thought Kasabian were great and Primal Scream blew me away watching on TV. Can only imagine what it was like to be there .

I just hope that Coldplay's performance has made a few more people realise that Chris Martin is the biggest w@nker around .

Anyway, all I've got to look forward to is the delight of the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival at the end of July :(. Started as quick trip to see Paul Brady and I somehow got talked into a five day camping trip .

There will be three  tents though, so who's complaining .

Funny you should say that about Karaoke, as I was editing the highlights of Saturday night to make a DVD I thought that he sounded like a very bad pub singer. Is his singing that bad or was he deliberately messing everything up

I thought the Zutons 'presure point' point was a stormer. Doves fan so i enjoyed seeing them, was funny watching Bobby Gillespie calling basement jaxx **** suckers:laugh: always loved primal scream.

Coldplay, i just can't see how such bland cow dung gets out of that cows arse (martins gob) to the radio

I feel the same about Coldplay, the first single Yellow (I think that's what it was) was quite reasonable but then they seemed to disappear up their own backsides and started to believe all the hype about themselves. Very bland.

Just look at the various album charts from around the world. If X&Y isn't number 1 it's close. Coldplay brain washing doesn't just apply here.

I've always thought New Order were poor anyway (apart from Blue Monday), very weak singing and too commercial for my tastes. I can't believe they did that football song the other night, fancy doing that to a mixed audience of English/Scots/Welsh/Irish very stupid.

Did anyone else think that Jack sounded like Zed from the Police Academy movies?
My missus offered this opinion as i watched the White Stripes and after i finished laughing i had to switch off as i couldn't take it seriously any more..... :D
