I just got Gladiator R2. The label on the back does not say DTS-ES. It's just simple DTS. Can anyone confirm whether it is DTS-ES or not?

Thavat - This is what Rewind said on their R1 v R2 comparison ...
"One minor difference is that the Region 1 version has the 6.1 extension for DTS but for this once we will ignore that fact as Gladiator is the FIRST UK DTS movie disc which is a cause for celebration!"
So R2 is slightly less brill than R1 (no change there then!!!)

I am sure I read from some source that R2 will be DTS-ES matrix 6.1.
So I am sorry to get this if it only dts 5.1.

    Correct Sam.

The region 1 is DTS 6.1 ES Discrete so there is an actual extra channel at the rear and the Region 2 is DTS 5.1 ES Matrix so there is no extra rear channel but if you put it through the correct amp it will create a middle channel from the existing rear left and right.

I think the difference between the R1 and R2 versions is that the former is 6.1 dts discrete, the the latter 6.1 dts matrix.

There are TWO versions of the packaging for this R2 release. In Woolies I noticed the case had 5.1 & DTS-ES shown but at MVC (owned by Woolies) it showed simply 5.1 & DTS.

    Confused? I certainly am.

Yes, I think there are two versions of cover.
But I have tested mine that come in DTS label. The Denon 5800 says it's DTS-ES Matrix so now I am happy.
I think there is only one version of disc but cover error happen sometime.
