theres not that much on it, its a "branching" dvd so it hasn't got two complete films on it. Sorry if i'm teaching you to suck eggs there.

So is the additional 17 minutes just the deleted scenes, included as extras on the two disc edition, reedited (or rebranched) into the movie?

Obviously a great film/dvd, but imagine how great a fully loaded Blade Runner SE could be! I can't believe it may never happen....

Instead of having two separate and complete versions of the film, there's just one version (the original cut) plus the additional scenes which, if the extended version of the film is selected, are seamlessly branched into the original cut to make it longer...
    ... or something like that...PJ :)

Definately not the version i saw. in the cinema release which i saw, one of the romans comes to search for a slave (to buy) at the slaves training camp and Maximus recognises him and throws a spear at him and tries to attack him (never seen this in a dvd release) other bits as well but can't recall now.

Definitely stuff cut from the cinema release. The biggest bit is the scene where maximus' owner entertains some visiting nobles from the capital. After the fight, Maximus throws the weapon at the balcony where they are sitting in and says "are you not entertained?" to them in particular (not, as it appears to be on the dvd disc, the whole crowd). There is a shot of the weapon landing in the balcony from the nobles perspective. The nobles/politicians think he's a bit "fiesty" and decide to take him to fight in Rome itself (which is where he fights next).

This integral aspect of the plot is wiped out of the dvd's and only implied on these releases.

    Hope it's in this edition.

shame the :dts: has been removed. they did that with the 3 disc of panic room too. im not sure if 17 mins extra footage is worth double dipping for, but i do have a thing for 3 disc'ers...
