Hi fellow forumers,

It’s my birthday tomorrow so I thought I would do something to celebrate this. I’m giving away an open copy of Lawless (2012) [SteelBook], which, in my opinion is in very good condition complete with J-card.

To be in with a chance of winning this prize all you have to do is answer the following question:
What do you think is the best period gangster movie, and why?

I will be covering postage and only 1 entry per person allowed.

The winner will be chosen at random using True Random Number Generator (random.org) on Friday 11th March 2016.

:thumbsup:Good luck everyone:thumbsup:

First of all, Happy birthday @Ronnie3067
Big thank you for yet another brilliant giveaway from you :smashin:

Difficult for me to select a favourite gangster movie because i like a few.
I'm hesitating between "The Untouchables" and "Goodfellas"
Amazing cast, great stories (especially for Goodfellas) and i love movies that make you travel in the past for some reason.

Good luck to everyone!

Come on folks, FREE SteelBook up for grabs!!

Happy birthday mate. I have it so count me out but very decent of you. It's a great steelbook

Happy birthday Ronnie3067.

My personal favourite is Goodfellas, can't beat Brilliant Scorsese and DeNiro on top form and a truly terrifying Pesci into the mix and the last 20 mins while he's coked up is amazing filmmaking.

The godfather 2 for me is truly cinematic gold, perfect in every way, Pacino n DeNiro at the top of their games, the score, cinematography come together to make the best sequel ever in my opinion.

Untouchables, Donnie Brasco and The Departed if that can be called a period gangster piece, are up there aswell.

I'll go with Goodfellas because I've watched it about 30 odd times, and I am in awe of Scorsese.

Happy belated Birthday Ronnie. Thanks for this giveaway, I think we all appreciate it!

For me the answer is Pulp Fiction. The reason why? BECAUSE IT'S PULP FICTION!

Is that a cop out answer? I guess so lol, but definitely my fave gangster film of all time and technically speaking I'm not a big fan of gangster films in general if I am honest but I really like this film. I know it is set in it's own period (90s) but I likle all of the pop culture references that are portrayed throughout the film. John Travolta dance scenes are always a good watch too!

Whoops I missed that bit. There are two that come come straight to mind. They are The Untouchables and Once Upon A Time In America. Both are cracking films both with superb performences fron De Niro. The Untouchables whizzed by in the cinema. I knew it was two hours long but it seemed half that length. I honestly expected a second story tagged on at the end as it seemed so short.

If I can only pick one then it has to be Once Upon In America . Is there any real need to say why? It is often brutal but has a bittersweet quality as we witness the characters journey through the years. Also it looks beautiful and has a soundtrack to die for. I have the main theme on CD and I often listen to it if I'm in a wistful mood.

Many belated happy returns @Ronnie3067.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone. :D Spoofs the whole gangster genre perfectly and does so in the most fun and entertaining way.

Happy Birthday. Once Upon a Time in America because it always seems to be overshadowd by a trilogy of movies by Mr Coppola and I reckon it fits as much in to it as the Godfather.

This will be drawn tomorrow at 13:00 so I can get it posted.

Get your entries in now!!

Lovely gesture Ronnie. Exclude me as I already have it but have a free bump for being a gent.

Another vote for De Niro but it's a toss up between Goodfellas and Casino.

Oops, I should have specified not to be included in the draw (especially as I already have it) I thought I was OK having not answered the question

Anyways, Congrats to @The Ringmaster , nice one on the giveaway Ronnie! :smashin:

Fantastic, and thank you everybody, but a big thanks to Ronnie for this giveaway. I am very chuffed and appreciate it so much.

Sometimes we all have different opinions of thngs on here, that's what makes us 'us' right?
But people don't have to do this and they do, going one step further. I guess Ronnie could have easily given it away to a friend or family member or whoever but he knows we all appreciate steelbooks are here for that very reason.

Cheers Ronnie! (PM'd you)
