This looks promising.
Well well well, this is out of the blue. Let’s see what Jnr has got.
This might just work. I love the quirkiness in a lot of Jason Reitman’s film, and like his directing style. The dialogue and interactions are also a key feature of his movies.
This does look promising and looks fairly well advanced if they're going to start filming in a few months.
Yes! Another return to a much loved franchise that will hopefully put the franchise back on track.
What could go wrong?
I think a bit of caution isn't such a bad thing - but it is Ghostbusters!!
I'd imagine through his father he might have some kind of relationship with the original cast too. So an appearance from them to bridge the time gap could be on the cards.
Yes, a proper sequel, even if using mainly new people would be much better.
Barely got through half of the reboot (when it was on Netflix). Was willing to give it a try as I liked the people involved but it was just terrible.
Ghostbusters 3 (2020) Teaser TrailerWatch this video on YouTube
I thought that was a really well done fake trailer - but it's official!!
I'm in anyway. Just that hint of the old music had me.
Crikey, they’re really on the ball with this one aren’t they.
Damn, this thread is fast moving! Announced this morning, and a trailer by this evening! Maybe they'll forward the release to THIS summer and have already shot the whole thing in secret...
I've got no problem with this at all. It cant be any worse that that rancid piece of reboot junk ,that tried to pass for mainsteam cinema.
I think we all might be very pleasantly surprised by the time the full cast is revealed. The way this whole thing is being handled, and the director involved (not to mention a killer teaser), I'm expecting Ms Weaver, Bill Murray and all the old guard to appear in some capacity vital to the story, and not some random throwaway cameos like previously. Colour me very optimistic for this one...
Haven't you heard mate? It's a 9/10 already!
It's a secret Cloverfield film, they are trying to throw us
It just goes to show, that even with projects seemingly stuck in developmental hell for years, sometimes things just work themselves out. I'm still hoping that Disney's Fox buyout will reactivate the (currently shelved) Blomkamp Aliens sequel. Hollywood loves to recycle ideas, and the trend for nostalgia based franchises being revived mean there's $$$ to make from it.
I really hope there are jokes about fanny farts and soup in this one.
Does anyone think the fellatio gag in the original was a bit risqué for a PG? Then again it was the 80s.
If I remember correctly, Ghostbusters was a 15 when it first released.
Ghostbusters 2 I'm sure was a PG.
I also thought this was a fake trailer when I first saw it. I thought an official teaser would have had this end with the opening drum beats of the theme song.
But it’s not and I can’t wait for more news.
I’ve owned the original film in so many ways, from taped on the tele premiere on xmas day, then spent stupid amounts of money to get it on Criterion LD just to have it in widescreen, then R1 DVD, multiple blurays, and finally now in 4k. Cannot wait for a new film, it’s been described by Ivan as a passing of the torch film, so I would guess cameo from Murray, but a bit of a heavier part for Aykroyd and maybe Hudson.
Here’s to summer 2020 already!
He is apparently liaising with his Dad on this film and has the original cast on board to try and bring back the glory of the 2 Ghostbuster movies we all know and love. (lets pretend that SJW/Snowflake/PC edition movie doesn't exist)
I'm in anyway, that music had me
You remember incorrectly
You remember incorrectly. 7 year old me didn't look 15 when I went to see it on opening night.
I was hoping for Ray Parker Jnr song at the end of that trailer, joking aside this is totally out of the blue and really exciting news. Here's really hoping.
Can someone - anyone - please tell me why the original Ghostbusters is never on the telly (FreeView, anyway). Ghostbusters II is on all the time, the remake was on over Xmas, but the original - never.
You may have done
It's okay it was Batman I was actually thinking of as it was mentioned in the movie thread the other day
Nice usage of the Elmer Bernstein theme for a change and not the Ray Parker Jnr song.
Sorry fella, wrong again.
At the cinema, it was one of the first 12 movies. As I was in my first year of high school when I went to see it, and I was 12. I couldn't get into 15's I tried with Crocodile Dundee 2.
However the 12 rating wasnt used on videos back then
I was talking about the VCR yeah. Still got it in the loft!
However I'm not entirely sure how I got in to see Police Academy 2, when I was 8. Especially as I thought I was going to watch Care Bears The Movie.
I always remember the old man getting me in to see Terminator 2. They were quite strict in the old Canon cinema (I think it was) by mine, back in the day.
