After the first 10 minutes you'll think you're onto a winner.... after the first 20 minutes you'll realise you're not If you feel you must buy it, wait for the R2 and then wait a bit longer until it pops up somewhere like Play, Splash or Choices in the bargain bins for £6. There should be a good few floating around trading forums before too long. It's nowhere near as good as other Dark Castle guilty pleasures like House On Haunted Hill and 13 Ghosts. And they weren't exactly great films.
Yep it's all downhill after a promising opening sequence, even the early sense of humour (prompted by the 1950s style opening credits) seems to disappear... I also agree that it makes 13 ghosts and house on haunted hill look good. nice naked italian woman in it though!! Mama Mia!
Same here. Nobody's going to accuse them of making proper "decent" films, but the rewatch factor of their two films up to now is high. They're just entertaining pulp horror flicks and don't try to be anything else. Unfortunately, Ghost Ship doesn't come close despite some decent visuals, sound, and a promising opening. Even the remake of The Haunting is a far superior film to GS, which probably gives a fair indication of just how bad it really is I'm particularly fond of "The Angry Princess" in 13 Ghosts, myself
Same here, the clips I'd seen looked very good, obviously the clips I saw were the best the film had to offer One to rent first then
Its a shame that this film deteriorated so much after the initial 15 or so minutes. It had potential but the film makes killed it with a crap plot development. Avoid it.
As a second opinion, you mite like it if you like all these crappy teeny horror nonsense films. It's definitely not great, but I personally think it's better than House on Haunted Hill, although admittedly there's not much between them.
Don't listen to Virgin Fairy - Ghost Ship is a fantastic movie - pure horror suspense. It had me quaking in my boots.
