    Hi All

Which is the best R2 version of "Ghost in the shell" to get?
    Check out www.play.com,
it has 2 releases on sale.

can you recommend any other anime as good as that?
I have seen Akira... i thought it was ok, but not as good as GhostITS.

    Cheers,shaz

Does it have to be R2 ?? As there is a Special edition coming out on R1 next month which will have DTS etc plus plenty of extras. Also Ghost in the shell 2 movie is out on R1 now but i wouldnt buy it yet as theres a screw up with the Eng subtitles.
If you are a fan of GITS you should also check out the superb TV series out on R2 and R1.
Akira is a great movie with a superb DTS track although the manga series is far better, they had to drop so much to fit it in to a movie.

The 2 play are selling are the same special edition - one is the older release with the lip syncing problems and the other is the rerelease with those problems sorted out - no idea which is which as i cant quite make out the covers.

'Felt Ghost in the Shell was on to something but it fell a bit short-- and i mean literally, the film is a little too short. Nevertheless its a great title.
I still prefer Akira (with its holes in plot). I have the tin R1 version and the sound as well as picture, is amazing.

Ghost in the Shell R2 version had dubbing issues but captaineyecatch says they sorted this out? If you can go for the R1.

Akira is a great movie - try and check out the Stunning DTS version that was released on R1 last year - amazing remaster of the Stereo japanese soundtrack into DTS 5.1 - one of the best remasters i've heard and the dvd is nice and cheap
As for Ghost falling short yep i agree and much prefer the TV series. Although do check out Ghost in the shell 2 thats out on dvd now a very good sequel.

GITS 2 on region 1 may have messed-up subtitles, but it does have just about the best 2 channel DD soundtrack your ever likely to hear.

Great movie, just stunning to watch.

Waiting for GITS standalone complex boxset... i'm not one to watch one or two discs of a season, then having to wait months for the next one to arrive.
