    Hi guys and gals,

I bouight one of these on monday - everything is cool except for one thing - the begger keeps recordeing on its own!!

Its connected to a philips freeview box and on to panasonic plasma.

I've checked the freeview box and SCART CONTROL is not active and nothing has been programmed for recorded (its says EXT LINK on the display when it is recording).

i got home yesterday to find that it had been recording for almost 5 hours and last night i got home about half ten to find it recording again for almost two hours.

does anyone have any ideas why its doing it?

    Hi Gary
It looks as though you are one of the unlucky ones to buy one with a firmware
    fault.
Mine was doing similar things to yours so i took it back to the shop.
    My replacement is fine.
There are posts on this subject further down on the board.
    Regards
    John

Have a look at EH50 strange behaviour.
It should be on the board now.
I do not know how to post links so i have just added to the post so it has become current.

Panasonic uk are hopeless.I am sure that your retailer will know about the problem.
The machine is faulty and they should replace it.
    Regards
    John

    Hi all.

Bought one these on 27th April, and have just sent it back for the same fault (after reading this in the past I was rather expecting it to happen).
Fortunately the dealer (Premier AV Centre, also knew about the problems), pity Panasonic won't let them do anything about it.

Does anyone know the range of serial numbers which are affected, or how to access the service menu to find the software revision numbers.
I would like to be sure that my replacement machine has the latest version.

I am rather dissapointed that Panasonic won't come clean about this problem, rather than trying to hide their embarrasment. Software bugs are unfortunately not that uncommon, but by not coming clean to customers it is us and the dealers who have to put up with transport costs posting these things back and forth.

    Hi Gary.

I very nearly went for the 85. And still might, yet.

Just wanted to upgrade my HS2 to a newer more "advanced" machine, but so far not impressed. Will try one more though as some folk seem to have good machines.

why dont you wait a few months (yes i know, waiting is not something we do very well - well i dont anyway!! :D ) and get the new one with 160GB drive and Freeview? i'm sure the firmware will have been sorted by then.

    Gary,

You are quite right, I am dreadful at waiting.

Assuming Panasonic get their firmware written by Microsoft though, I wonder what bugs will be present in the new machine :D :D
