Getting the best out of a Xbox Series X and Epson EH TW7100

Hi all,

2 days ago I replaced my ageing but trustworthy Panasonic PT-AE2000 with an Epson EH-TW7100 and alas so far am not quite convinced it was the best replacement.

I have it connected to an Xbox Series X via a HDMI 2.1 cable (I realise the Epson only supports 2.0).

I've only had chance to do some minor testing so far, but have tried the Joker 4K UHD movie on the setup, and spotted that if get the Series X to output at 1080p, and then compare it also to 4K, there isn't actually an obvious (to me) visual difference. Is that to be expected? I realise the Epson is a Faux K project, rather than native 4K, but I was hoping for some improvement.

It also feels like, and old Apple TV 3 (1080p only) visually looks better on the project on Disney+ and/or Neflix, than the Series X does.

Does anyone know if there any obvious tweaks to setting I should look out for?

Thanks,
