    Hello,
I am about to go out and buy some leads for connecting up my new system and would really appreciate any advice on what kind of leads and connection setup would optimise my viewing pleasure!

    My system is:
    LG RZ42PX11
    Pioneer VSX-C502 Receiver
    Pioneer DV-575 DVD Player
    Sony SAVS300H 6.1 Surround System
    PS2
    Telewest Box

I have read (nearly) all the relevant threads (cheers to Doctor_d for all the set-up help) but if I could have some specific help regarding routing as much through the receiver rather than straight to the TV that'd be great.
I have attached a pic of the back of the receiver and dvd if that helps.

    Cheers in advance,

    druss

You have 2 options, a real nice DVD picture or a real nice PS2 picture....

    DVD Option

DVD > LG = using good component (YUV) leads + good sound leads
DVD > Pioneer AMP (DVD optical) = using an Optical lead for the best sound quality
Telewest > Pioneer AMP (STB socket)= using a good quality scart (turn on RGB in the menu)
PS2 > Pioneer AMP (DVD socket) = using the standard PS2 scart (turn on RGB in the menu)
Pioneer AMP > LG (AV1) = using a good quality scart

You just need to check one thing, can your pioneer AMP handle the optical from the DVD and the scart from the PS2. Try turning each piece of equipment on, on its own.

    PS2 Option

    PS2 > LG = using a PS2 component (YUV) lead
DVD > Pioneer AMP = using a good quality scart
DVD > Pioneer AMP = using an Optical lead for the best sound quality
Telewest > Pioneer AMP (STB socket)= using a good quality scart (turn on RGB in the menu)
Pioneer AMP > LG (AV1) = using a good quality scart

I'm not sure if this will work with your AMP but if you want the sound from the PS2 to come through your AMP, you could also try connecting the optical out into the Pioneer (STB port) and turn off the telewest box when your using it.

Hope this makes sense.... (will post up a picture if you need it)

For £15, you can get a (manual) YUV switchbox that allows for up to three devices - so both DVD and PS2 can connect via YUV, without unplugging.
