Ive just ordered my PSP from Lik-Sang. A few questions -

Has anyone had to pay import tax from them and how much?
Is the hanso screen protector the best?
    What are the best games?
What percentage of PS2 graphics does it have (ie 100% being as good as PS2)?

Cant wait to recieve it :rotfl:

Ive never paid import tax yet, but I have only bought stuff under £18

Not sure about the screen protector, looking into this myself

I have fifa which is pretty good, also wipeout pure which is great if you liked the
previous incarnations, and, untold legends which you would like if you get on with the boulders gate games on the consoles

I would say the graphics are around 75-80% of the PS2 capability

    Hope this helps a little

graphics aren't that wonderful, but I heard a rumour that due to the battery life being so rubbish they have locked off some of the capabilities of the psp, I don't know how truthful that is. When you consider that the psp has more processing power than the ps2 it does make you wonder why the graphics look ropey on fifa soccer on the psp compared to fifa 2005 on ps2

fair point its only a matter of time before new batteries come on the market anyway.

Also its still early in development and you cant help but feel that the current titles may have been rushed out to get sales.

If you read the threads on www.ntsc-uk.com you will see most people have paid approx. the following

total price of itmes and shipping + 6% import duty and then add 17.5% to the total.
There is also a hadling fee of around £12 to add on top.

Did you ask them to mark it down when you ordered?

Best games that I have are Tiger Woods, some football game which isn't FIFA, Lumines, Wipeout and Ridge Racer.

I also have NHL which is a bit crap and a few others which have rapdily sunk out of sight.

The machine is pretty damn cool however and I probably use it more for watching movies than gaming. I have never had a problem with the battery and I believe some of the horror stories are unfounded unless you want to play a heavy disk game with wifi non stop for hours on end.

The directory structure coudl do with some work to make it easier to copy across movies but apart from that there is little I can criticise except the shiny surface which while lookign good is a bugger to clean.

Get yourself a copy of PSP Video, a 1Gig memory card and start ripping your DivX movie collection over to to PSP size. Bung on a few albums and photos to show off to your mates and I guarantee that you will dig the PSP.

I got mine from Lik Sang with Ridge racer and a usb lead(which didn't work but had an identical lead from my phone).

Had to pay UPS an extra £44.50.

Cracking machine though. I have a screen protector, 2 rubber skins(which I had to slightly modify) and a good hard case, all from Ebay for a few squid.

I'd defo go for a 1Gb duo pro though as my 512Mb won't fit a full converted dvd on it.

The PSP is in its infancy, games are being rushed and developers haven't have time to develop and learn how to maximise the PSP - I am sure come 2nd, 3rd and even 4th Gen games the PSP will surpass the PS2 in some respects! Think back to PS1 - ridge racer, rage racer, then GT

It is true some power is held back due to battery comsumption, Sony will give games the extra power if justifies - I guess the likes of GT and GTA may require this extra power?

Cowden, don't get FIFA. If you're a Pro Evo man, like myself, it will disappoint. The gameplay is very slow, and to make it worse, there are pauses of about a second every time the ball goes out of play. The game will start to load the wide animation before the ball goes wide.

I would recommend you pick up some of the following

    Wipeout Pure - Excellent racer
Hot Shots Golf - Addictive fun
Metal Gear Acid - Different, but once you get into it, it's pretty good.
Ridge Racer - If you like racing, you'll love this.

Pro Evo is due out around October. Wait for that!

As for memory sticks, 1gig is the only way to go. I got my SanDisk for 68inc off eBay.

just not allowing PSP's CPU to run at max clock speed - currently 222 (sumthing like that), max is 333 or whatever. to conserve batt life.

Why not try cut to size LCD screen protectors? Jessops £5. Although if you get it wrong....fingerprints are under the protector

somewhere between PS1 and PS2? leaning towards PS2 of course.

graphics not everything. I still play Tetris, Duck Hunt (nes light gun game) and virtua cop for gameplay. Granted nice graphics help, but no gameplay......its like a art museum. Boring.

    Sorry art enthusiasts

GT4 psp will only have 4 cars racing at a time, so obviously there is a difference in how the consoles perform. I can't understand that for one, as on paper the psp should easily match the ps2 and exceed it in some respects!

That's strange. Ridge Racers has the full 8 (could be 6). Wipeout has 8.

    Strange.
