The only place that has a demo room within 20 miles is Seven Oaks and they wont show me the panny on grounds they think its rubbish (and theyve been on a course so they should know:eek: ). They also say they wont have a z1 in for a few weeks.

Anyone know of a dealer near Lytham/Blackpool that is likely to stock these and knows what they are talikng about!!!

Have emailed both Sanyo and Panasonic to find out who is a distributer for these products as their store locatorsare for any product!!!

I cant be the only person in the Northwest who needs a demonstration of these projectors!!!

I hade a similar response from SevenOaks in Leeds.

Was told they wouldn't be selling the AE300, "due to all the problems with the AE100"!!

Unforetunately, just spoke to 7oaks in preston and have admitted that they are franchises so website means nothing.

Also admitted that he wont be getting anymore Z1s, but would I like a demo of a Sharp Zv90 something or other, which being £2K, DLP and not native wide screen is almost the same as a Z1!!!!!

Projector retailers....here is an opportunity as it looks like the nearest place for a demo is Manchester or Liverpool. Setting up shop in Preston will give you a monopoly of the whole Fylde area!!!

Ringer if you find anywhere let me know. As just when I was convinced the 1 for me I read that the AE300 is worth the £175 price difference!!

Practical HiFi in Preston have projector demo facilities...may be worth giving them a call.. (I think they also have a Blackpool store?)

Same story as sevenoaks. "We dont stock that but we do have a yammy CRT?"

The AE300 and Z1 are entry level surely everyone should be pushing them!!!!

They were both on display at the av-sales showcase this weekend. Unfortunatley the Z1 and the AE300 were about 6 projector screens (epson/toshiba/NEC etc)apart so it was hard to flick between them. However I think the AE300 was better on PQ and inputs. They were giving out packs with Manufacturers information/specs on each projector which was good, give Liam a ring as they may have some spare
    Cheers
    :p

Unfortunately "entry level" often means "price fighter" which also means lots of competition on price.

Many traditional AV retailers find selling entry level projectors to be a waste of time and effort because of stiff price competition from Internet and Mail Order dealers. I'm afraid this leaves you caught in limbo unless you are prepaired to travel for a dem.

Hmmm, tough one. I am willing to pay a dealer a "premium" (say up to £75 in excess of best net deal) for a demo and being local so that if I have any problems I can get fast service.

However I am less willing to travel as I am then paying a premium for a demo only.

Saying that I would be willing to travel and pay £5-£10 for a demo only as I do think its cheecky to get one and not buy anything

Same story here in Scotland. AFAICT the Panny doesn't exist in this country! At the very least, I'm 99% certain it doesn't exit in Edinburgh, and I'm pretty sure Glasgow's the same, so that's most of the country. ;)

    Lots of Z1s, no AE300... :(

And now I'm actually going to sell my current PJ, I really need that demo! D'oh!!

May just cave in and order something from the States (my brother's coming down from Florida in two weeks)... maybe one of those tasty NEC LT240s! Mmmm....
