Now we have a Pio thread, can we see some Viera setups...
Undergoing a remodeling.
That looks fantastic - the finishing touch would be a decent plasma like a pioneer................................
Seriously - thats a cracking set up.
Nice set up mate. After going to all that trouble, you may as well get yourself a real solid timber floor as well.
Thank you for the kind words. i'm really pleased with how it looks - i hate wiring and i hate seeing wiring. whole thing looks very cool
Its was a shortlist between the Veria (known as "our vera" in the house ) and the pioneer. decided on Vera in the end because of the off air TV picture. I'm sure i'd have been happy with Pioneer though
the whole buying of the screen was a bit of a rush - how would you deal with it if the wife walks up to you in an electrical shop and says "i really like that plasma - shall we buy it? i'll pay"
exactly! after you have picked yourself off the floor you start to panic and buy a samsung!!!! oh christ was that a mistake so after the Samsung had gone back it was either vera or the pioneer and as the pioneer would have cost me about £400 more we decided on Vera. The screen and the bracket cost just over 2 grand. i'm very happy with it.
Ok, so how do you get your photos in the post like that, Every time I try i have to post small thumbnails, and I have a picture of my Viera on another post so it wont even let me put the pictures on in that way,
go to http://www.theimagehosting.com/ setup an account and then upload your pics. after you have uploaded you can get a link that will connect that picture to the website you want to use it on.
any probs let me know.
Thanks for sharing the ppics, the set up looks great.
I'm looking to buy a 42" Vera myself. I live in a rented flat so can't fix to the walls. Looking at your set up have you attached the screen to the unit below? or to the wall? Can you let me know how you have managed it, wall mount? stand?
Here you go, thanks Garyd for the info
The photos were taken by a phone camera and the lighting was not that good, but you get the idear of what it looks like
Your setup looks great Gary!
I like the look of your cabinet or should I say cabinets as from the pictures it look like you have three side by side.
Where did you get them from and do you have the dimensions?
Not as neat as Gary's above but here is my Panasonic Viera, TH-37PE30B. Click on the piccies for a larger image.
P.S. The link in my sig connects to a similar post by me in the "Get your plasmas out for the lads" thread.
Thanks Guys, i think it looks nice too - i have a phobia about wiring i hate seeing wires believe it or not it is very tidy down the back of the units. i took the opportunity to clean it all up before the screen arrived glad i did as there were 4 scarts just hanging around doing nothing - i think they breed
Ian, the units are use are IKEA's OPPLI they can be found here:
and this one:
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stor...Id=10101&storeId=7&langId=-20&productId=41494 This one is silver and is wider.
i use 3 because of the full size centre speaker.
Neiluk - its wall mounted. if you look around this site you will see that they there are 2 schools of thought about plasma screen - mount them high or low. i choose low because i think its more natural when seated - other prefer high - each it his own it was more luck than judgement that the bracket hit that exact height. my brother and i did it the night before the screen arrived (who wants to be messing about with drillls when you have a new screen i your living room? )
The bracket will support upto 90KG and it needs a decent brick wall to put the huge screws in!!!
David - glad to see you got the snaps working (my pleasure on providing the info) you setup looks fab - i like symmetry. out of interest is that "shaun of the dead" in the top photo?
yep, it certainly is. Undersiege 2 in the other photos. I am trying to take some better ones with the phone, but Normally I send them to my Email and then send them to the pc. However for some reason, recently the messages are not getting there. The photos just dont do the set up justice
David, in the bottom photo whats the box sitting just below the screen and on top of the pedestal (about and inch below the panasonic badge)
The centre speaker
Garyd, you've a FANTASTIC set up
what's even greater is the furnishings of that room, very stylish, italian-like
not to mention the floor.....
since I live in the UK, one thing really pisses me off is that every single home I visited has a ****ing carpet
i disagree regarding the carpet!
every luxury house/appartment iv lived in has had pure white carpet and looks awesome, apart from one of them which had laminate flooring and we moved out in the end and that was one of the main reasons.
i think laminate is very chav now, it does look right when done the right way, and ive seen some on here look great but just to give u an idea:
my cousin is a tramp! never worked claims everything he can from us taxpayers etc etc ,wears tracksuit bottoms with a lacoste shirt and brown rockports got his 1st council flat and whats the 1st things he done, saved his dole money and got.
1. a daydo rail
2. a yellow £20 kettle/toaster set from index.
3. stupid big oversize 1980's jamo speakers that are around 1 metre high by half metre wide and are only rated at 150 watts with a technicks 80 watt amp.
ganja/drug related pics/ornaments
and finally! laminate flooring!
he is yet to drive but i am sure when he does he will be in a nova!
no offence to anyone that has this exact setup in their home/flat/squat/bedsit
or any other combination of the above chav items. i hope you are very happy with them and the service you get at index/poundshop/kwicksave/aldi. and im very happy for you that for your income you only have to walk to the postoffice and pick up your cash once every 2 weeks, i know you cant work because you have asthma/an accident when you were young that means your back hurts when you sit at a desk/do physical labour.
ps im not rich, come from a council estate my mum and dad do not own their own homes, never had anything given to me on a plate and work very hard for little things i have in my life before you chavs start calling me a snob lol
Yup, i agree with what him above says. I will post a pic of my
carpet next week. Never mind the Viera.
It looks like I pushed the wrong button
krismc, don't get me wrong
I've been living everywhere around the world and England is the only place where most of the houses have carpets.
It's something I'm just not used to, add to this the fact they're not-very-hygienic and I'm highly allergic to dust....you do the math
I'm a broken-ass full time student and worker and my living room is 7' x 8'
I won't be the owner of a good TV set-up for the next 3-4 years
work hard ul get it!
nah i know what you mean, i mean where else in the world do people put carpet in their bathroom/toilet?? lol come on you have to be a pretty good shot each and every time to stop it from stinking the place out hey
British carpet and wallpaper...Don't you just love it,LOL
no comment lol
but iv just moved from really trendy warhouse style apartment with laminate flooring etc to new build house with carpet, and to top it off!
i wallpaperd 1 wall for the 1st time ever! lol,
quite a funky retro wallpaper but wallpaper still
heres my english wallpaper, carpet and plasma in full english glory lol
ps yes it is a gas firplace not a chav plastic one with a red bulb to make it look realistic
Here are some better pictures of the Viera.
click on the images below to make them bigger.
(just want to get this tread back on topic - i'm going to ignore that the carpet discussion and the fact that i've been insulted and called a CHAV!!!! by krismc - you might want to be careful about who you level the discription "chav" at fella - could get you into trouble one day. Be nice to see how much baby respects the "pure white carpets" in my experiance anything white and children really doesnt mix and do you really want your kids crawling on a dirty dust and dirt magnet?. Also its nice to know i my entire life can be judged from the flooring in my house.)
so david, is there a space opera you dont like? (i cant see any babylon 5 screen shot )
Couldn't agree more about the chav calling. Seems the newer members here really get off on fist banging, calling people names and insulting their kit. Totally out of order IMO.
On the carpet side though... - it does actually help for room accoustics...
I like B5 I just dont own any of the dvds (yet)
Back on topic and talking about carpets at the same time. The mrs wants the carpet changed in the livivng room. When this happens I think I will be wall mounting the plasma and changind the layout of the units ect.
Why not a thread " get your carpets out for the lads?"
your setup will look great wall mounted mate!
i had ur stereo system around 4 years ago, had great sound and a lot of bass!
how is it in full home cinema situation??
i wasnt into all this then so prob never got to appreciate it
ifact i think its still at my mums in attic might get it out for my dining room as its a smart looking unit aint it
haha like it, i tried to start a get ur xmas trees out for the lads thread at xmas obviously but it failed terribly
The DVD player is the pioneer 757ai. It is connect Via six leads to the six channel amp. this then give the descreet 5.1 channel audio both dolbydigital AC3 and DTS 5.1. Its not the most expensive or even best opition but it does the job and doesnt wake the kids up!!
Separate names with a comma.
