Can you compare the HD to any other screen, mate??

    Looks good from the pic.

I haven't seen any HD yet apart from on the comp and haven't had time to get a cable to run to the screen.

Can someone with a 42DP7200 do me a favour please, and measure the distance between the bottom of the stand, and the bottom of the actual screen (not the surround). I want to see if I would have enough space to put my centre speaker there. I don't have enough space in the unit I have to place the speaker on a shelf.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean.

But to the top of the silver bit is 103 mm.
To the bottom of the actual picture is 162 mm.

    Any good???

I had my heart set on the Pioneer 435XDE, but as the Hitachi is significantly cheaper, and is getting some very favourable end user reviews, I may have to change my mind...

Just got to work out how to pay for it now...

Stick it on the card and suffer later (only joking).

I paid for mine with a tax rebate ((god bless Gordon Brown) (another joke)).

But the missus got the hump that I'd wasted £2000 on "a telly".

So I'm sticking £70 a week back in the bank.

    It hurts :(

    hiya folks,

just got mine today and first of all i must say the picture is bloody awesome, the colours are all there and after having a play around the settings, brillant but i do have two problems.

1/ when i played my ps2,medal of honour black borders are on either sides, anybody else have these and if they did how did they get rid of them.

2/ i have sky+ also but the only things i cannot control with it are the volume, mute, channel change, anybody got the code to change it.

i will post my plasma at the end of the week.

    cheers stevo.

I was looking into Panasonic/Pioneers until I stumbled across the Hitachi…. Looks superb and the more I find out about it the more I like it… just wondered if anyone would be kind enough to give me there opinion on the points below.. many thanks in advance..

    1. where is the best place to purchase one from..?
    2. are the various extended guarantees on offer worth having – if they don’t cover screen burn etc
    3. what is the 42PD7200 like for screen burn using the built in luminance manager and white screen etc – do they help?
    4. I am planning to use it with sony freeview unit and standard dvd also using an xbox with it for say 10hrs a weeks and then when the new xbox 360 comes out running that as well for the prog scan and hi def gaming.. will this level of console use result in screen burn/how can I avoid and limit it?
    5. can the screen logos on freeview etc like ITV2 TMF be turned off or are you stuck with them/how long would it take for them to damage the screen? Or am I worrying for nothing?
    6. how do people go about fitting a wall bracket to stud walls as in most houses these days… will screwing into the timbers think they are at 600 spacings be good enough..
    7. thinking of getting the Hitachi bracket the PWT002 I think as its designed for it… any one else used them same/had any probs..?

Many thanks again for your time..

    Andy

Sorry I had to use my phone's camera, but don't have a digital camera at the mo. If I can get hold of one, I'll update.

As you can see, the plasma base barely fits on the LCR600. I have now banned the GF from vacuuming around the plasma and speakers and do the lounge myself!!!

No decent DVD player yet, just using the PS2 with component outs or the powerbook G4 with DVI if I'm feeling keen. (Not the G3 in the photo.). Tossing up between a 1920 or DV7600. Anyone using one of these with their Hitachi?

    As for these Q's:

    1. where is the best place to purchase one from..?

Got mine from Richer's. 1999 plus a DVI cable for 20 quid. Got it home in a black cab for 4 quid!

    2. are the various extended guarantees on offer worth having – if they don't cover screen burn etc

    I didn't bother.

    3. what is the 42PD7200 like for screen burn using the built in luminance manager and white screen etc – do they help?

Apparently reduces contrast in the corners where the logos would sit.

    4. I am planning to use it with sony freeview unit and standard dvd also using an xbox with it for say 10hrs a weeks and then when the new xbox 360 comes out running that as well for the prog scan and hi def gaming.. will this level of console use result in screen burn/how can I avoid and limit it?

Turn down brightness and don't stress about it!

Sorry, can't help with the rest!

Hey kahuna you have the same unit as me. £59 from ikea, absolute bargin. I have the B&W 602.5's as my front speakers and was thinking of getting the same centre speaker as you but it looks huge. Did you have any problems balancing the plasma on it.

Not sure if this has been asked already, but with the amount of threads all about pretty much the same thing, it's easy to miss information...

    My question really is:

Seen how there is a LCD version of the 7200 and also a Plasma 7200, which one should i go for, regardless of price? What are the pro's and con's of each one of them? :lease:

The 7200 really does look smashing.

The plasma base overhangs a bit (1-2cm at the back only) but I have about a kilo of blutack between it and the speaker! Couldn't bring myself to putting the the screw through the base of the plasma into the speaker. I have it sitting pretty far forward on the stand because I was woried about sound reflections and this way I can hide stuff behind the speaker. I will probably move it back a bit anyway so it looks less intrusive. It is much more stable than the speakers sitting on top of commercial speaker stands.

The centre is pretty huge and ruins the sleek look the setup used to have, but I can't tell you what a difference it makes with movies. The whole sound stage is so much more realistic it is wrong. I was more than surprised.

I should probably take the castors off the unit, but I am behind there so often messing about that it is just too handy.

Guys, I'm really sorry but it seems that my subconscious talked me into the 1-2 cm that I mentioned above. Having had a play with the speaker again last night, I have noticed that there is considerably more (4-5cm) overhang than 1-2cm. I just don't want anyone to buy on misinformation from me. If anyone needs closeup pics etc or an exact measurement I will oblige. That being said, it is still quite safe with lots of blu-tack and I can push/shake the screen quite hard without it even getting close to toppling. Please note I have no pets or kids (that I know of).

Once again, I am really sorry and hope that I have not caused anyone any dramas.

Hi Muzzyboy, just seen the pics of your wallmount, one question: I thought the Hitachi requirement was for at least 4" of space behind the screen to disipate heat, looks like a lot less that that with a wall mount. How do you get over this? Or do you just ignore it?

Now I've seen your set up (and others on the forum) I'm getting a hankering to do the same....but would mean losing the swivel stand and getting a loan from the bank (ie the missus) to do it.

    Decisions, decisions..
