I've been thinking about getting an XBox for a while now. I know it's stupid but if they'd released a smaller version I might already own one. But as the XBox2 is supposed to be coming xmas 2005, just over 12months away, (plus I already have a GC), shoukld I wait and get that. What do you think, would you wait, or get an XBox now? XB2 later?

Even if they released the Xbox2 for next Christmas (which is an early date probably, especially with Xbox sales so strong at the moment), you've still 14 months to wait. An Xbox costs £100. That is just over £7 a month - the price of a magazine. A bargain IMHO, especially when you consider the strong games line-up planned in the next few months.

Then you could sell it, or do a part-exchange against the Xbox2, which reduces the cost even more. (Or keep it of course!). So you could do both the Xbox and Xbox2.

Go on, you know it makes sense! :smashin:

Spend some money man. When Xbox2 comes out it'll probably cost £200-£400. Also, is next years date for the US? Last time it was a good 6months before UK release. £90 or whatever the cheapest you can get it for nowerdays is a bargin. I'm sad to say I don't play my GC much these days...not with PGR2, Fable, Burnout2, Grabbed by the ghoolies....and Halo2 on the way in a few weeks. Not enough time in the day for games :D

Yes, as Jus said. A decent Xbox package can be had for £99 to £110 with decent games. When the Xbox 2 comes out it will be at least £300 for a while after its release. I have recently become an Xbox owner, you won't regret it.

A year is a long time. I'll have to have a look next time I'm in town. Especially now there should be loads of older games cheap or 2nd hand. It's just a shame that Microsoft hasn't released a smaller version like the PStwo.

Is there a decent RF pad, like GC's wavebird?

I like the look of this Logitech wireless joypad. One problem is you can't plug a communicator into the joypad, making it a bit useless on Live, but all Xbox wireless pads are like that. RRP=£45.

I saw a MadCatz wireless pad in town today, iirc it was £29.99. I looks quite good but as lorenzini says u can't plug a headset into it so it pretty useless if you plan to play on 'live'.

EDIT: The pad adaptor that plugs into the controller port has a socket to plug the headset into, but seems pretty impractical to me as the wire on a head set is only a few feet long so makes the wireless pad pointless for online users.

The X-Box is worth buying if only to play PES4 online!! Not to mention Outrun 2 (superb racer), PGR2, Halo 1 & 2, Ninja Gaiden and the upcoming Forza Motorsport (which looks like my kind of heaven!). At under £100 they are basically giving them away!

The X-Box 2 probably won't hit the UK until well into 2006 tbh and it'll be overpriced on release (with few bundles about) and probably not be worth buying until they reduce prices for christmas 2006.

Bought my Crystal X-box today with five games and an extra controller for £139.98 in Currys/Toys R Us

They had a deal for console & 5 games in Currys but were out of two of the games. The manager let me swop in a game and a controller and I got Gotham racing 2 in TRU for £20.

I have been playing LOTR:ROTK most of this evening! Excellent game.

Hey, I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago. Works brilliantly. In fact, I'm going to get another tomorrow. Here's hoping 2 don't conflict with each other...

I bought a Game wireless pad and it works fine. It's got a rubberised surface which is quite nice.

Had problems round my friends house...had to turn off his wireless lan.

Can you not just change the broadcast channel for the wireless? My wavebird can do this, as can my wireless router.

I'd definitely say pick up an XBox. In addition to the wait you've got for the XBox2, there will be another wait for games. Sure, there will be a few killer titles available at launch, but the best games come out in the middle/end of a console's life cycle. If you get your XBox now, you can finish Halo before Halo 2 comes out. That should be reason enough. :D

If I didnt' already have a GC I wouldn't think twice about buying an XBox. I'm was just wondering whether it's worth buying another console, when next gen is round the corner. That was all. As for release dates, I think it's in their, (microsoft's), interests to get the XBox2 out before the PS3. Still, we'll find out more at E3 in May.

Yea probably. Just quicker to turn off the network. Rather not delay Halo linkup session any longer than required ;)

The other half is getting me an X-Box for Christmas. I wanna give Outrun 2 a go and with some other great titles coming out it makes sense.

At these prices you can afford to have an xbox,ps2 and a gamecube

Outrun 2 is a superb game!! Captures all the brilliance of the original and adds to it in copius amounts! One of the most fun and replayable games i've ever played - every XBox owner should own this!!

Have they added the original in there somewhere??? (as a secret extra)

I think ill get the G/F to get me an xbox deal and then see if the olds will buy me Outrun 2. Its the only thing i can think of that i want for Christmas.

Didnt they do this on the Dreamcast with Shemue 2. I have the first one but not the second.

On another note - got paid today so off to Tescos at lunch to purchase GTA San Andreas and Pro Evo4.

Thats my weekend sorted -
