Wot on earth is going on with him ?
its breaking news so hope we find out soon
What a drama Queen.
I'd sell him to the highest bidder. Over rated little t*at.
He's only said he's staying IN Liverpool, not AT Liverpool. Sounds like Everton have got in there.
not sure that we wouldn't have been better off with 35 million quid to spend on 3-4 new players...
but overall glad he is staying
Yeah, sounds like he really wanted to.
London UK as this guys location...your sure your not a bitter chelski fan
made up he is staying he knows truly this is his home
I think hes called their bluff to be honest. They wanted shot of him as they are in need of 30 -40 million for the new stadium & fu***d him about on his negotiations, but when he said he was off they did the old press spin number of "oh we wanted him to stay and tried our best" Now he's gone F8ck you then i'll stay and on an improved deal as they now cant go back on it. ammusing really
££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ well lets face it he wouldnt get a game at chelski and would only warm the bench with wright phillips
UP THE GUNNERS
Chelsea willing to spend £32 million on a bench warmer? i'll have whatever dubledene is smoking?
the new stadium is goin WELL over budget but atleast where getting one unlike you tramps goodison has to be one of the worse **** holes in the prem and even a few division 1 stadiums are nicer
anyway back on topic
im not sure which option i prefer to be honest, gerrard stays and we have him and alonso in the middle or alonso and possibly a couple of new players BUT im not 100 % confident in rafa`s buys to be honest so i think in the end its probably best he did stay dont get me wrong alonso was a hell of a buy but none of the others have quite shined as bright as alonso.
If I was a Liverpool fan I'd be glad he's staying. He's too good a player to lose. On the downside I suspect he and his sickbag (sorry agent) were trying it on to get a better contract. Never mind the £100,000, there's something else been offered. I also get the feeling that these players are such ego maniacs they love to see how just how much the clubs and fans will beg them to stay. Sorry, but you just don't 'suddenly' decide to leave and then 24 hours later declare you're staying - unless you never intended to go anywhere.
As such Liverpool fans are now in the position Arsenal fans know so well with Viera, with another four years to go of constant speculation every end of season as to whether he'll go or not. It only ended when the club and fans finally had enough of it last year and made it plain he could go.
This is just the beginning of this saga lads, not the end.
I wonder if all those "great Liverpool fans" who hurled insults at him and missiles at his car yesterday will apologise to him ? I do think Liverpool are a better team with him and so I would see this as a great thing for the club that he's staying.
Incidentally, I've just heard Kenny Dalglish on Talk Sport being interviewed over a dodgy mobile phone line which kept going distorted and crackling...... and it's the most legible conversation I've ever heard from him
i didnt even know there was such outbursts untill i seen a few things online and on SSN (didnt see ANY missiles being thrown though) i mean come on its not like he lead us on and we got nothing for him is it? i think this kind of thing is becoming all to common a sight in football now (rooney being a prime example) obvioulsy us fans will be upset but to actually to it to the next level and start burning shirts with his name on is ridiculous
if thats the stance we where taking as supporters against gerrard then macca and owen must be sh*tting themselves because there should be a fatwah on there heads
ROFL! So Silver, had Gerrard gone do you think we would be seeing dodgy videos in arabic (with a heavy scouse twang) declaring an offical holy war on him............
its beyond a joke isnt it when fans are burning shirts etc just because a player says he wants out,at the end of the day thats his choice.i like the idea of him staying but i wasnt as ****** off as i was when owen turned rat.i could actually understand the attitude of some fans if this had happened after owen but not gerrard.
just gonna nip off to al jazeera.com and see if any news is there
I agree with overkill, it's been a stunt to either up his weekly wages or some other sort of financial gain. I think most professional footballers are pure mercenarys, it was a game of poker between Gerard and Liverpool and Gerard won, money talks at the end of the day!
You can't blame them though as most of us would do the same............£100,00.00 a week, plus sponsorship, plus this and that.........
now that's enough to turn most people into green eyed monsters (me included )
Personaly I think he's made a huge mistake staying, the fact that he wanted to leave YESTERDAY and was thinking about it last year proves his heart isn't in it any more. I think he lost his nerve.
He's fufilled all he can at Liverpool imo.
I can't wait for the reaction of the kop if he has a poor start to the season.
im sure he will get a better reception than say ROO-NALDO at goodison lol
it is all about money plain and simple.strange thing about money is it makes you do things you dont want to do.
How dare you Sir I'm a Yiddo and proud of it !
On the one hand I agree, as if people are stupid enough to give in to the players blackmail then why not? On the other, no sorry, it's sheer obscene greed of the first water. There's no need for him, or any other footballer to be earning £100,000 a week. I've reached the stage now where I would rather see player go than keep giving in to these quite disgusting wage demands. Ie Cole, get lost..............
What's even more depressing is that it's mainly English players that hold out for the biggest wages and squeal the loudest (play the mind games) when they don't get them.
Yeah, Vieras the same, he's not the player he was before all the 'will he won't he'? crap started.
weel its started for you again overkill the mail sais Juve want him
Which one Neilo? Cole or Viera? Frankly either can go. Cole for being such a weasel and then trying it on at the tribunal, and Viera because tbh, his heads been somewhere else for the past year. We need to sell now, because another season like the last and his value will plummet. Sorry to sound mercenary but that's how they behave..............
In that case, it's thanks Patrick, you've been great servant to the gunners, but now it's time to end the speculation and move on.
Silver, what do you think of the pool' buying another OAP in Figo? Does Benitez need anymore 'one game in four' (should that be six given his recent sedentary ways?) merchants? I mean really?
in all honesty the man has been a class player. could go one of 2 ways, have storming season rekindling some sort of previous form or not adjust to the premo cos he is so old. i seem to recall people writing off bergkamp for about 3 years and he is still playing some world class stuff. the quality never leaves you. the deal may not go through because real are now demanding £2 million when they previously said he could leave for nought if he found a club. they must see its us and cos they didnt get stevie they being spitefull
they have a bloody cheek considering they got owen for nothing really and should be reminded of that (not that it will do any good) then again we did get 7 mil and nunez i hope we do get figo as he has 2 good seasons left in him and although he might not have the legs he is tremedously strong in his upper body and can hold people off all day.would be interesting to see how much his wage demand is though besides all that i think we do need an old head who can control and council players on the pitch and he does have vast experience at all levels.the only problem i see really is will he be bothered? hes a player in his twilight, coming into an good on somedays average on others and terrible beyond belief now and again team.its a long LONG way from real madrid.
i would certainly be more impressed at getting figo then getting zenden i know that.maybe its just the big name i dont know but i would love to see some of that old figo magic at anfield but like i said before its wether he can be bothered turning up more days than not only time will tell.
It appears that all Gerrard needed was a hug.
But seriously, this latest episode shows up the modern footballer for what they really are - money-grabbing mercenaries. Loyality is a word that 99% don't understand any more.
And the final insult, when Gerrard said, "I wouldn't like anyone to go through what I went through over the last 2 weeks". Come on Steven, get outside your bubble and take a look at the real world where people have real problems. Take the dead and injured in London, you idiot. If you think the choice between £80,000 and £100,000 per week is a major problem in life then you are in for a rude awakening some day.
I can't see it kopite. He's been off the boil now for a few years. The older players find it hard to adjust to the prem, and the latin players even more so.
As for Bergkamp, good player, but his best days are gone. Looks good against the lesser lights, but vanishes nowadays in the tougher games. It's nice to see him still turn it on, but, he can't do that very often anymore, and as such it's an admission we aren't going to be challenging Chelsea for the title in keeping him on. Figo is frankly, even less fit, and even less likely to do it than Bergkamp.
Trouble is silver is you're 100% right! Like Hasslebank when he went to Boro, he's only after a cushy benchwarmer to tide him over until retirement. That's NOT the sort of guy you need if you really want to mount a challenge to Chelski.
And again agree 100%. It just shows how divorced footballers are from reality. Liverpool instead of offering him all he wanted (apparently Parry rang him at some God forsaken hour to plead with him), they should have said, to quote Lister, "spin on it". A few years of sitting on Reals bench would have woken him up......
im not sure whats more depressing the fact that a player in his twillight is better option than what we have or the fact that we seem to collect "squad" players like theres no tomorrow.its been a problem for me since roy evans went,we just love squad players and instead of going out and getting what we NEED we get what we CAN.
i would like to still see figo as im a glass is half full kind of person and we do so need some entertainment and flair in our starting 11.i was miffed at the 2 mill price tag but seeing as we spend more than that on squad players he might be worth a punt besides that by all accounts majorca are interested in nunez.
i never liked hasslebaink when he was at leeds as he showed his true colours back then.the man is and will always be a mercenary and will jump ship as soon as the bigger better deal comes along add to that he is a selfish player who when he doesnt receive the service he craves losses his rag yet he doesnt seem to bothered when he is greedy in his hogging of the ball.i still laugh about the BARCA saga and how quick he was to jump ship there from chelsea and now look at him
