Hey All,

I recently bought a Toshiba SD220e and I'm very happy with it, it's a great machine. Finally getting around to a stand alone player has meant that I'm finally able to explore VCD and SVCD.

It's at firmaware 1.2 which i know is old and still ahs the multi angle disc problem which is a different issue thhat i will resolve.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any problems with SVCD at all? At the moment I can't seem to get anything with a data rate higher than 1800 to play properly, it just has the most awful digital ghosting effect, making it really blocky and jerky when there is ANY motion in the image. I know the MPEG files are ok, they play back fine on my computer. And I'm just not sure whether it's the data rate or not anymore. At www.vcdhelp.com people have commented that this player is great at handling VCD and SVCD, upto 5300kbits, so should have no problem with the standard 2500kbit.

I use a mac, but now am using Nero on the PC. Same problem occurs though.

The spec of my test MPEG is:

Mpeg 2 Program Stream File [Video/Audio]
Muxrate : 2.33 Mbps
Estimated Duration: 46:05.56s
Aspect ratio 4/3 (TV)
Interlaced, chroma format: 4:2:0
Video Format: PAL
Size [480 x 576] 25.00 fps 2.52 Mbps
Audio : Mpeg 1 layer 2
224 kbps 44100 Hz
Stereo, No emphasis

Can anyone see a problem?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give.
