geforce 2 mx is a superb card for dvd playback and is v stable with WinDvD 2000.
the radeon is also v good but a bit more flakey with ATI player.
I use the geforce 2mx with a Tosh MT1 and windvd 2000 and get superb results as well as DD/DTS passthrough capability

The Hercules is a very good card. See if there is a newer GeForce 2 MX 400 version around, this will be faster ans not much more expensive. There may not be because Hercules are moving their cheaper cards over to the PowerVR 3 chipset.

    Hi there,

The Geforce2 MX suffers badly from RFI filters, the spec's are a bit lax on this so some cards apear to perform better than others. My Innovision Tornado DualHead was apawling, with really fuzzy output on either connector, let alone low bandwidth on the second connector.

Some people say that this problem also only affects higher resolutions, but i wouldn't say [email protected] was that intensive !

Mine was so bad, my 8yr old ATI 2meg Mach64 beat its picture quality.

Swapped it for a Radeon VE, this is much crisper, even before running up a DVD player. True the VE has some custom resolution intricasies (Its posible, but fiddly), but is miles better.

    Cya,
    Lee
