Gears of War running choppy?, is 2GB RAM not enough?

Was playing it last year on my previous system, 8800GTX running at Ultra Speeds, 3GHZ C2D, 4GB Ram runs great at max settings 1680*1050 DX10 with no AA. plays great slight slow down/pause here and there but that's due to the game, not the system..

Now playing it on a E6420 and 8800GT 512MB with 2GB RAM same res, DX10 no AA and settings set to High not highest, but it feels choppy, get slow down here and there which lasts quite a while, clocked the CPU up to 2.75GHZ and GPU from 600 to 645MHZ, stills fees the same just slightly better, any ideas?, is the 2GB Ram not enough?...

Do you have a x86 os or a x64 os?

I use vista 64 and found that with 4gb of ram, games are like lightning.

It made more of a difference to me than upgrading my gpu.
