Thats a really good result, considering this year there was an embarassing 97% pass rate and a whopping 3% failed.

I wasn't going to mention this, but as we're gloating... :D

From my class of 19 my results were:

    A* 4
    A 5
    B 8
    C 2
    D 0
    E 0
    F 0
    G 0
    U 0

The school got 47% 5 A*-Cs. Also, across the entire school, we entered pupils for a total of 864 entries the school managed to get 10 A*s, so to get 4 from 19 in my class was particularly pleasing.

Congratulations dups45, and don't let any of these morons talk your results down - they're only jealous. BTW, speaking as someone who sat an R.E. 'O' Level back in '81, in my opinion the Religious Studies G.C.S.E. is far more difficult.

    Well done, you deserve it.

I recently posted a link to a GCSE paper at another forum (mainly people aged 30-45), and the response I got was "Bloody hell, I thought these were supposed to be getting easier"!

Most of the moaners who say that things are not as tough as they used to be, couldn't spell G.C.S.E.

BTW, anyone wants to have a look at that sample Religious Studies paper:

    http://www.edexcel.org.uk/VirtualContent/50134/NXXX21A_GCSE_Religious_Studies_5561__Unit_A_.pdf

    How well would you do?

Incidently, that only covers the first year's work - you have to do another one (same legth, structure and difficulty) the following year.

I'd have done religious studies looking at that paper. 2 hours of writing about made up stuff - easy!

Not sure if GCSEs/A-levels are getting easier or not, but well done on your results any way! It's all relative to the people around you.

RE is one of the easiest. I did Catholic version. No revision for it, no need to. Its all common sense and make up some b***. Oh, I got a B

Yeh i'd agree, i thought the RE was really easy, but this year, all the tests seemed to be different to the tests in previous years, instead of having about a 6 mark question on something important that you study alot we had lots of 6 mark questions that we had studied a paragraph about. Consequently, only 10% of the people in my year who were predicted A* actually got it

Congrats, dups! You did far better than I. Back in 1989 (when I took my GCSEs - I was in the second ever year to do them!), I got pitiful results. No, seriously: REALLY bad! So I spent years in a dead-end job before pulling myself together and blagging a great career in advertising in London. Proving, I think, that I probably had enough nous in me to do better at school, but I was just horribly lazy ...

Hope you get your MP3 player as a reward. Add my name to the petition you should be presenting to your dad!

Theres no guarantees that good results will get you anywhere (holding myself up as the proof. 5A a-levels, 1st at uni), it just opens more doors for you.

We get this all the time in R.E. - that it's an 'easy' subject.

But every year the pass rate is about the same as all the other exams.
