I've got a Gateway Computers PC and I need to update the BIOS.. I've looked at the Intel site and found the make/model.. however since it's a OEM it's not allowing me to use the standard BIOS code.

    What can I do?

    Thanks

Well they shut down in Europe back in October 2001. I believe in US they are trying to transform into consumer electronics rather than PC firm -- and have even been selling their own plasma screens since November 2002. From what I understand their US site still sells PCs, and has the appropriate online Technical Support.

Out of interest just went to Gateway.com, went to Technical Support, did a search of BIOS, and got 394 BIOS files going back to late 1990s.

Is the BIOS you require listed there?

If not, are you trying to update an OEM mobo with a manufacturer's BIOS? May not be possible. What ever problem it is that makes you need to update the BIOS, you may need to find another solution.

    Flashed OK.. phew.

Normally, the only time you do a flash -and the power would go off!
