Been short on ideas this month. Was browsing the web, and saw something similar to this, so thought I would give it a go. Had to keep the shutter speed short to get a crisp flame, but in doing so the flames were to dull, so I had to up the ISO, unfortunately that has introduced some noise into the flames.

Camera: Canon S5 IS
Focal Length: 16mm
Shutter Speed: 1/10 Sec
Aperture: F/3.5
ISO: 200
Date / Time: 20/11/2010 18:36

In Elements 9, adjusted levels, resized, boarder added, sharpened.

On subjects like this Ian I think the noise is pretty "Organic" and actually adds something - nice idea - well executed - love the "almost" symmetry in it too - there goes that "Organic" thing again :smashin:

Definitely the right choice to enter too IMO BTW :)

+1 on the noise, I think it adds a nice atmosphere to the shot. I think the only thing I would've tried to do is rotate the image maybe a degree or two clockwise to give the symmetry alignment and greater impact. Lovely shot and PP.

Nice shot and shows good imagination. Hope your cameras allright after this though!

Fingers and camera are ok (though I did have to be quick taking the photo), though I did get a singed eyebrow.
