Garmin Safety Camera uploading problems

Hi....I have a Nuvi 250W and my trial safety camera period has just expired. I want to renew it for 1 year but am having problems with the Garmin website. I I follow the instructions, connect the unit via USB but when I click "CONNECT" on the webpage - Nothing.
I'm using Firefox in Mac OSX Leopard - same problem with Safari. I'm sure when I activated the trial I had no problem.
I see a message at the bottom of the window saying "Applet GarminUpdater notloaded".
Any ideas?

Cheers
Martin

Why pay for something that a lot of sites offer for free?
You can download files with the speed cameras and upload them to your garmin with poiloader.

Thanks.....But is the POI as comprehensive as the Cyclops database? I've just spoken to Garmin and their speed camera database is not compatible with Mac. I had a go at them. Nowhere in their information does it state that here are compatibility problems with Apple Mac. Mis-selling I reckon. They are working on it....apparently

Garmin have recently changed the Java code that runs the camera updater - certainly the last time I tried to update cameras on my PC, everything was broken, and I was getting error messages and no uploads.

The fix on PC was to uninstall the Java Virtual Machine, reboot, download the latest JVM from Sun and install that. This fixed the problems - but you do need to make sure that you clean off the old JVM properly first. I initially tried just installing the latest JVM over the top of the old one, and it didn't help.

If the trial worked on your Mac, there is no reason why the full version shouldn't work - I suspect you just have the same Java problems as I had.

Thanks for this info. I read what you said and had a sneaky suspicion if I tried again, over a week later, it would work - and it did. No problems at all. Garmin Custy Service were useless. Obviously a website glitch. I didn't uninstall anything on the Mac. Cheers :smashin:
