The best thief you'll never see.
I saw this last week whilst on a walk and went back today to take a picture to post but its either stopped blooming or has been dug out as I could not find it anyway here's a description.

It was about 3 feet tall and across, it was not a dense bush/shrub but more like individual stalks. at the top of each stalk was a flower something the look and size of a tulip but the petals were pointed, the colour on this one was white and with pink markings on it. And no it was not a bunch of tulips this was one plant with a minimum of 20 flowers.

this flower upwards and the pink in it is more in the centre of the petal.

Could it be a laverta? A member of the Hollyhock family...

Hehe just raid the comment on the link and it says Tulip like blossoms:smashin:

Excellent... in a Mr Burns like accent :smashin:

Looked into Magnolia's and it seems rather than a shrub or bush they grow into 6m trees.:(

I've got two in opposite corners of the back garden.

Depending on who you read, they either like a Sunny spot or partial shade.mine are sort of in between.

I prune mine late autumn, not a Hacking job, just a trim and they remain under 6ft
The eldest is about 12 yr and is getting a bit thin now but still manages a decent show of Purple/white flowers through the year.

I'm no Gardner and I havn't done them any harm.

K.
