    Chaps

Now that the summer is nearly upon us we are thinking of venturing out into the garden to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

We were looking at garden patio heaters and wondered if anyone has any advice or information (I know this is like asking if the Pope's Catholic !!! ;) ).

So, anyone have one ? What should we be looking for ? I have seen some high street / garden centre examples, but some of these look a little flimsy. Are they all like this ? I am not looking to spend loads (maximum £200 including gas and delivery), but I am looking to get the best available for the money.

So, what have you bought, how much, where from and is it OK ? How do you get the gas bottles filled and where ? Are they very big / heavy ? How long do they last ? ...all the normal stuff...

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Cheers

A lot of answers depends on which one you go for but....

IMO I dont like them - which has mainly be when it was cold outside rather than just cool - is that you tend to get burnt to a crisp on one side but remain cold on the other - result - every 10 minutes you have to turn round (just need to get a automatic spit and a large baster and you'll be fine)

...I'm sure when they filmed the opening scene in 'Gladiator' they were all wearing jumpers rather than burning down half of Surrey...

What a fine Sword, Sandel and Sweater epic that was...

    Anyway, back on track...

    ;)

I'd get a wicker man and put Garrett in it:laugh:

Thing is, a bit of breeze and the heat gets blown off!! The only weather where it really suits is still nights when it's not that cold anyway. That's a patio heater by the way, not a wicker man

I've got one! Bought it from Argos £99.99.

seanys got it about right. It only will really work on a still night but mine does work well. I am quite warm blooded anyway but the other bank holiday weekend saw us out till 10:30pm in shorts and T shirts. Could have put more clothes on but where is the fun in that......ooer!

When it is windy you have to be down wind but normally it's no fun to stay outside when it's windy anyway.

How can it be bad for the environment BTW. Nearly every house has gas central heating?

    Indded Garrett

Bottom line is they're ok but dont think you'll be sat out in oct like you see on home front. They're are table ones and you'd be closer to the heat and it wouln't use as much gas as they're only small, but you're closer to them
