The Region 1 version of Gangs of New York has the film split over 2 discs like the Extended version of Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring.

Is this the case with the R2 release of Gangs?

The reason i'm asking is because R1 Pearl Harbor was also split over 2 discs but the R2 version the film was all one disc.

I prefer to watch a film all the way through without getting up.

But the R1 was the DC with DTS and commentaries and the R2 was the theatrical cut without DTS!

EIV are handling GONY here. and I'm sure they'll do exactly the same as the R1.

Nope, the directors cut of Pearl Harbor came out a year after the theatrical cut.

If the choice is non-flipper with dolby 5.1 or a flipper with DTS. I go for the non-flipper with dolby digital.

No, the DC was never released they released the ultimate edition but that one had just more extras but not the DC only still the theatrical cut. The DC was never certified by the BBFC and hence won't be on that disc. france, germany and netherlands got the DC, UK didn't.

Gangs of New York, of course.

I already have Pearl Harbor, and no I didn't pay for it. Amazon sent it to me for free.

There's no shame in having paid for Pearl Harbor. I bought the dutch DC set when I was on holiday and it cost a lot.
    on second thought...:D

    You are right & wrong.
    I have had both.
Both the standard version & directors cuts released on R1 are spread over 2 discs, whereas the UK version (standard version) is on 1 disc.
The R1 standard version has got DTS, but not commentaries.

My question was about Gangs of New York NOT Pearl Harbor!!!!!

I knew someone would get the wrong end of the stick and turn it into a thread about Pearl Harbor.

The standard edition of Pearl harbor was just an example of a film which was a flipper in R1 but not in R2.

    :nono:

I've ordered the R1 version of Gangs from CD Wow HK for £12.38

The R1 and R2 versions of Gangs have now been released and I was right.

The R1 version has the movie split over 2 discs and the R2 has the movie on one disc.

I have the R1 version, it sucks!!

The R1 version is a flipper, the R2 version has the movie uninterrupted on one disc.

The R1 version I have suffers from awful edge enhancement. From what I have read on here, the R2 version is better.
