    Hi,

    My measurement results with ColorFacts at the SIM2 HT300E, firmware 2.39.13:
    Gamma
    8 = 2.1
    9 = 2.3
    10 = 2.5

    9 (Default) is a good adjusting.

    That's very helpful. I also understand that colour index 36 corresponds to d65 judging from the diagram in the manual though others have suggested it occurs at 25.

    Where D65 occurs at will depend on your screen and your room. You should be aiming for D65 for the reflected light coming off the screen...not the light coming directly out the projector.

    Thanks Gordon. I setup the sim yesterday with a vutec silverstar at 36 and 10. Looks great but I know it can be better. A suggested setting of 25 on colour index and 5 or 6 on gamma sounds unusual to me. Recent reviews have suggested 36 and 9 to achieve optimal settings over hdmi. My theatre room has no ambient light I don't have a colour analyser at my disposal so am looking for guidance.

    Hi jakeman,
    it is complicated to adjust the colors without measuring exactly.
    There also are differences into dependence of the version of the firmware.
    I have a dark room and a white screen (1,1 - 1,3 Gain).
    HT300E firmware 2.39.13, Denon 3910 firmware 6609-9, HDMI, 576P
    All measuring with PAL - DVD !!! and Colorfacts 5.5 and EyeOne

    Here my adjusting:
    Brightness: 43
    Contrast: 63
    Color: 36
    Gamma: 9

    This is a color temperature of 7200 Kelvin (ColorFacts)

    Measuring of the contrast (Luxmeter):
    Off = 0.02 - 0.03 Lux
    ON = 70 Lux

    Additional still the adjusting in the service menu (Driver) for Color = 36 and 6500 Kelvin (D65):

    R Gain = 100
    G Gain = 100
    B Gain = 96 (-4)

    R Offset = 97 (-1)
    G Offset = 98
    B Offset = 89 (-9)

    But the service menu is protected !! (For adults only)

    Many people prefer a cooler picture.
    This is also a question of the personal taste.
    It is much more important that the 3 colors are linear.
    You dont need the Service Menu.

    Be happy, the HT300E is very good.

    Thanks for your assistance Osmardris!. I have a high gain (2.75-3.0) 110 inch vutec silver screen and am using same sim software as you through a panasonic s-97 in hdmi 720p with v.540 software . The following settings have been suggested to me to approximate d6500 and obtain a very vivid image with "punchy" colours. In the service menu using format mode not driver and HD component:
    Gain
    R 107
    G 101
    B 105

    Offset.
    R 88
    G 77
    B 88

    Gamma at 6, colour index at 25, brightness 45, contrast 53, sharpness 7. I have adjusted gain and offset and am very pleased with the image so far but have not decided on a main setting. I am also thinking of replacing the s-97 with the denon 3910 and wonder if I will get any improvement over the already spectacular view. :thumbsup:

    HI,
    The service menu is reserved for technicians.
    There is the risk that important adjustings are changed.
    I only wanted to say that the HT300E can also exactly be adjusted to 6500 Kelvin.
    The changes for D65 are very low.There isn't any reason to call the service menu.

    In addition, Alan (UK), Jeff (UK) and Mike (Germany) send me the Terminator if I publish the access.
    Talk with your seller.

    No problem. I have tweaked service menus many times to maximize performance. The settings I posted above are also supposed to be at d6500 and visually looks improved in component. I gather the above driver settings will bring hdmi to exactly d6500 at 36 index .
