Ive been looking for a gaming PC for the last few days in which time I have gathered a basic concept of what I need, The problem is when I find something decently specced within price the tower is normally horrendous, This I woudnt mind but its going in the lounge to be hooked up tp a 60" 1080 tv.

Im wondering what would be the minimum kind of spec CPU/GPU I would need to run the latest games Nigh on max at 1080p and would hopefully not need to be upgraded for a year or two.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

670-680GTX for the GPU ---- 270+
i5-3570k ---- 170

8GB Ram,
Mobo
Case
PSU ---- all for 300

seems fairly decent for the price,

I suspect that would mean a self build for those prices?, unfortunately Ive never built one before this will be my first foray into PC gaming.

Closest Ive managed get to that spec with a pre-built so far is with a 660ti and naff case and even that pushed the budget to over £800.

Would I really need a 670-680 Just for 1080p 60fps.

Cheers.

No. 660ti or a 7950 would do. Have you tried Chillblast/Scan/PCSpecialist? Decent gaming computers at that price.

Yeah ive checked them sites and more thanks, For a 3570 and 660ti or 7950 specced machine theres nothing under £830ish.

If I were to attempt to build myself using online guides etc what problems could I run in to?. If I bought all the componenents and case does everything come with the wires or do I need to buy some of these seperately.

Cheers.

Building it yourself does give you the advantage of a completely customisable unit but pcspecialist and the like come reasonably close. If its in your lounge you will also probably want it quiet so fewer larger fans are better and staying away from the higher end graphics cards and AMD CPUs is recommended as they produce more heat and therefore need more cooling. As for cabling if you do go DIY all you need normally is some non magnetic screwdrivers and a standard PC power cable.

Thanks, I think im going to give building it myself a go with the help of a few online guides:D.

Ive got these parts under consideration so far.

Case: CoolerMaster Silencio 550

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX

Intel i5 3570k

Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 (or im hearing that a 7890 might be released this week)

PSU: Corsair CX500 80 Plus 500w

2 X 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz Ram

Crucial M4 128Gb SSD

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm

Samsung optical drive

Im unsure about a cpu cooler yet as I dont know what would fit in that case.

Cheers.

You are right about the 7890s if the rumour mill is to be believed, should hear something before the end of the month. It looks like its already having an impact on prices if you look at the 7850s on Scan at the moment.

Why that case? Would you be better off with something like an Antec 300 2?

The CPU heatsink / fan combo depends on your requirements and how much you want to spend on it.

if you want it to play 1080p for the next few years id say yes,

Yeah It might bring the 7870s down a bit too hopefully:thumbsup:

I probably would go with something like the Antec 300 if it was being hidden or going in an office but as its going in the lounge I picked the Silencio just for aesthetics as it will match the rest of the kit which is all gloss black.

Also like the look of the Silverstone fortress but it seems like a right ball ache to work with especially this being my first build.

About £30 max for the cpu coooler.

Cheers.

Ill have to see how far I can stretch my budget although its a bit healthier now Ive decided to give building it myself a shot.
