Hi all, I'm looking for a gaming laptop for £399 or below.

Doesn't have to be able to play all the latest games, but has to be good enough to run EVE Online at full resolution/high settings and possibly some of the recent RTS games like Command and Conquer 3 / Red Alert 3 and World in Conflict. I might play the odd FPS now and then....

    Any ideas or recommendations ?

I was leaning towards the HP G60-214EM, but I have read that the graphics card is quite weak in terms of what the card can deliver. Please post any links or info that you feel might be of use.

    Thanks in advance....

    your asking a lot

your best bet to have a look on the dell outlet site

you never know what you might pick up

or have a look on this forums for sale ads

as for £400 you aint going get a gaming laptop to play any of the games you mention at full res or high settings

    sorry

6835 has shared graphics, really for the kind of gaming asked for, dedicated graphics is a must.

Sub £400 is very tight, may be even really out of reach with your expectations. :(

Same sort of question but you can see even at nearly double your price it is not easy.

Gamming on a laptop of any quality cost more than most expect. I play games on one of my laptops after getting rid of my desk top gamming station. Cost me just over £2200 so I could even get close to what I had on my desk top.

    Thanks for the replies....

Slightly concerned though that the laptop I suggested cannot run any of the games mentioned in good enough detail, ie high res etc.

I would have thought that it would be able to run EVE Online ok at full details etc. It's a very old game now, but I might have to stretch to £499 budget.

What sort of laptop could be had for an extra £100 ?
    (Not interested in a 2nd hand laptop though, that's a big no-no.)

At the moment Dell is my choice of gaming laptop but you will still not get in with your budget.
This is a starting point to look at if you go and look at their domestic range.

cheap laptops, refurbished laptops, dell xps, cheap dell laptops

Best thing for you I think is forget about the domestic range and go for the business line; you get a lot more for your money as long as you can live with black. I see more of these in my job in IT than any other Dell. I can honestly say there probably the best value high speck laptops around.
An example in your price range.

cheap laptops, refurbished laptops, dell xps, cheap dell laptops

The gamming laptop I use, if you really like you PC gaming.
