Gaming and Music Headphone Suggestions

Greetings all

I am currently looking to replace my Razor Barracuda 5.1 headphones, which I may add I have been very happy with! ^^
However, wear and tear is bringing them to the end of their life span, and I cannot live without sound.

I have since bought the Asus Xonar D2 sound card, which correct me if I'm wrong removes the need for 5.1 headphones
As the card does all the Dolby decoding, which means I can use a better quality pair of stereo headphones and still get the same 5.1 effect?

I have seen that most forums recommend Senheiser, which I have used in the past and found uncomfortable at best.
I was also very tempted by the new Razors until I saw they use a USB connection, which would ignore my sound card.

What I'm looking for is a pair of Headphones that are;
1. Wired
2. Closed (None “Open Air”)
3. Nice Deep Bass
4. Priced £150 - £300

Any help in finding nice new pair of headphones would be great.

Its a shame you want closed as I would recommend the AKG701 for comfort. Much more comfortable to me than the Senn's but not my beloved senn HE60 (sorry got to mention them every chance I get).

I don't use closed for gaming but may try the pxc450 (senn's) based on someones recommendation.

It’s not that I don’t want Open Air, but it’s my understanding that everyone around me would be able to hear me sound.
And as I'm using a mic for Ventrilo and other voip apps it transmit the entire time due to it pick up the sound from my headphones

Beyerdyanmic DT770 80-ohm seem to fit what you're after and they can be had for under £150

Also consider the Audio Technica ATH-A900 but I think they are £200

C'mon reano, surely you'd be aware the 701 is a pig to amp.

In closed the Shure 840 have been often recommended for comfort, build and bass. Never heard them myself, just passing along what's been said.

Beyer DT250, which I have, are a very nice closed phone. Not overly bassy, as they're quite neutral, which means they'll present what they're given, rather than beef anything up.

TBH, anything in that price range that isn't a gaming headset will put you streets ahead of the Razor.
