After reading alot of problems with people upgrading and have lost their game saves I decided to back mine up.

You can't, has anyone got a better idea on how we can .

I would be gutted to lose hours and hours of work now

Thanks

Looking at the forums elsewhere, there is a petition for Polyphony to remove the copy protection or offer a backup, and someone has made a comment on Kazunori Yamauchi's twitter page. I guess the only way to get a response is for lots of people to complain via the twitter & facebook pages. I don't think they will remove the copy protection, but they might make a patch with with online backup to PSN accounts or something like that.

I can't imagine having hundreds of hours of game time and losing it all to a YLOD.

yea that is a bit of a worry that u cant backup your saves but its understandable. just look at how fifa on ps3 has been ruined by what we call "clones" of people have 100 virtual pro players in 11v11 online.

All it takes is one person to unlock everything and share it amongst others cheating their way for online play as people would just pick the red bull x1 car and be done with it.

Honestly the only solution to this is for PD to have an online persistant storage feature so that our psn tags are linked to our game saves that will be stored in some kind of SQL database.

easily doable. even i could program that.

I have read up on this, and the current thinking is that you can only back-up your game save via a full System Back-up in the Back-up section.

Some say that the copy-protected game save won't copy along with the back-up, but others say it will. Can't comment myself as I've not tried it...

Great.
If i lose my saves due to the bloody YLOD,im gonna be ******.
Thats bang out of order,i understand security etc, but,if other companys can do gamesaves via/using psn, then, why not???
Come on,ive had 2 That have sufferd with YLOD.
Perhaps its another reason for people who are botherd, to go and get a new PS3??
Oh dear, another reason for another thumbs down.
Im liking GT5,but.....you all know the rest of it.

This is a major issue with this game, they need to do something and very soon! Not acceptable at all really to have no backup scheme in place for a game like this. People are looking at loosing hours and hours worth of gameplay. Part of my job involves organising HDD backups so I am really keen for something to happen. I dare not go online yet as I'm worried my PS3 will crash and corrupt the game save like has happened to others already! :thumbsdow

stick to online play and im sure PD will implement a backup save.

But don't you need to play offline in order to build your money up to buy decent cars to take online? It's a major flaw which is the reason I sold it due to having too many PS3's **** up on me.

I know they want to to stop people making money form game saves but it's not like they're losing any money from the sale of games.

I think this is all about protecting sales of future DLC, which is an extremely strong reason to block transfer of game saves and why I don't think the copy protection will be removed. I don't like it, but if a back up system is patched in soon I would be willing to tolerate it and buy the game.

I'm not sure what DLC has to do with not being able to back up your game saves? DLC is tied in with your PSN username. So if you had to get a new machine you could just re-download it from the Playstation Store, like the maps on COD etc.

for now you dont because you can choose from over 50 decent cars for online. yea i can see that getting bored within a month of two.

the only solution is the one i mentioned a few posts back. create some kind of online storage where we can store and save our game saves
