Getting my Gamecube soon. Can anyone help.

Is this Scart cable the same as the N64 one. It looks like it from the picture on the box.

I don't really want to spend £24 for one if I don't need to.

You can use your standard N64 Scart Cable as long as it's Composite wired. You cannot use an N64 RGB Scart Cable on the PAL Gamcube. You will get sound but no picture. As there is no S-Video on the PAL Cube you would be advised to shell out for the official RGB Cable. Shop around and you should be able to get it for around £20. Look on the bright side, it costs around £50 to buy/make an RGB Cable for the import Cube.

Looking at getting a gamecube but thought it had a s-video connection?
Or is it through a scart with an s-video converter attached?

    Mac:confused:

No S-Video out from the PAL Cube in any shape or form I'm afraid - only RGB & Composite. If you absolutely need S-Video, the US/JPN Cubes support it, as well as Composite and RGB via modified Component Cable (see my site for full instructions). :)

This may be of interest to some people.

when i had my N64 i got a friend in the UK to send me an RGB scart cable for it, unfortunately it didnt work i got sound but no picture. Later i discovered that RGB was disabled on Aussie N64's so i sold it in disgust but i kept the cable.

spin foward to 2002 and i get my gamecube "yay the thing uses N64 Cables" thought I, unfortunately for me i read on the net that N64 RGB cables dont work on the cube "great screwed by the big N again" i thought. cuirious however i thought i might just give it a try, low and behold it works perfectly pure RGB, crystal clear with perfect saturation.
I'm not sure exactly what is going on here but maybe Aussie cubes are wired different? Any thoughts?
