apparently (and this is just going from other peopls posting on other boards) nintendo have disabled the s-video out (meaning all those s-video leads dont work)

dont ask me why, but that could be the reason

This could be great news - where did you purchase it and how much was it? I'm looking at getting a panny in the near future and was wondering if I could connect it like this.

i've just noticed a round green blob from my ptae100
it can only be seen when a black image is shown

when i defocus the image the blob comes into focus

(the lamp has 120 hours on it)

is it a dust or a dead pixel ?

That is what I had it is dust on the green panel I tried to blow it out using canned air but no joy, so phoned panasonic service & they collected it from my home & will clean it and return it all under warranty, I am ceinling mounting my panny & I have invested in an air purifier so that any dust particles in my pj room are removed. Will let you know when I get my panny back

I got it from a local indy shop for £50 quite expensive but not as much as a tranducer, works ok with my pc monitor so when I get my panny back I will let you know if it works and what the pq is like, it also has a an av out so you can run you sound to an amp as well

Yep the PAL machine isn't compatible with a S-VHS lead - but the JAP machine is - I have both. To be honest S-VHS lead is not the way to go - even on a PAL machine if it worked. Go via component.

I bought a component lead (not yet available in the UK) which uses the digital out socket on the GC. Both the PAL and JAP machines output a superb picture via it. Only thing is is the PAL machine can on output an interlaced signal - not a pure progressive signal like the JAP machine.

    Gamecube Component Cable
Official Nintendo Game Cube component cable
    Gamecube Digital Video Cable
Official Nintendo Game Cube Digital Video cable
    Usually ships within 24 hrs
www.gibsoft.com have both available for 30 quid and it looks like postage free for uk

www.telegames.co.uk also sell these and are very helpful in answering email queries even on a sunday!

gibsoft are only a few miles from where i live near glasgow so if they are open tomorrow I'll drive over and check them out.

im finding the quality via composite on my pj at 70" atrocious, like most here ive tried a svid cable and all that does is feed the composite signal down one of the pins so my projector rejects that but my tv takes it ok via that method.

am in 2 minds whether or not to buy a rgb cable as well! I would like both cables one to feed the pj and one to feed my monitor

Got mine from Telegames - bit more expensive, bit they were very helpful.

There is also a DVI lead which, if you have a pj with that capability, is the way to go. Component though is superb - miles better than s-vhs on the jap machine.

just ordered one from telegames also, gibsoft basically order from lik sang for you and dont maintain a local stock,

I was wondering do you get progressive out with your jap gc?

I echo your comments, telegames were very helpful indeed.

Yes - the Jap machine outputs progressive - 525p - whilst the UK machine outputs interlaced - 525i! (My Panny reports this as signal type and you can tell anyway  )

the vga box with the cube doesnt work properly with the panny you get a wide 480 signal but the picture is bloomy & unwatchable.

    sorry to hear that.

I've been doing alittle more investigation and the nintendo digital video cable that you can get for the gc is only designed for jap tv's as it outputs component into the vga 15 connector but without the horizontal and vertical syncs, so the image would be barmy.

so for us the only decent option is interlaced component or rbg into tv.
