you get a free game as well... and unfortunately it is because they are soon to drop the console from their line.

its the same ones that are coming out in the new Player's Choice (cube's version of platinum) range. Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Rogue Leader, Smash Bros Melee some great games in there... Pikmin especially. saw the ad in one of the papers.

I know that Super Mario Sunshine and Eternal Darkness are included in the list as well.

Anyone who hasn't bought a Cube yet, get up from your PC and go to Dixons (or anyone price-matching them) and purchase one now.

An offer like this is too good to miss.

Do you think that all shop's will put the price down to
match and sell just as many as Dixons :smashin:

If so we will see some very good deal's with the Cube
    & games ( Let 's Hope So )

What about if Toyz R Us put the price down
( Now there will be some good deals )

I carn't see the Cube getting any cheaper than £99 ,
    Or will It ? ?

Hopefully the whole Dixons debacle will be a blessing in disguise and will kick-start the GC figures over in Europe. The sales figures are terrible for such a brilliant machine.

Its the best console I've ever owned tbh - I don't expect it to overtake the ps2 but it certainly deserves to. The sheer quality of 2/3 of the exclusive games is unbelievable.

And as for releases this year? OMG

This year really will show which console is superior IMO...

Put it this way, if you don't buy a Cube because you think 'its for kids' then you're missing out on maybe 15 brilliant games this year alone! Viewtiful Joe, F Zero, PN03, FF Crystal Chronicles, Zelda, Metroid and those are just the ones I can think of now...

oh and Mario Kart and a new Mario game...they might be ok as well ;)

btw the GC version of Splinter Cell will hook up with the GBA to enable a 3D radar and a unique weapon  There are also rumours that it will have extra levels and scenarios as well.

Sounds excellent IMO. Lets hope more developers use the link up in this way

I picked up one of these bad boys on the weekend. So far, even with just Super Mario Sunshine, I'm impressed. Certainly can't argue with it at £99, and with Metroid and Zelda not too far off, it's got at least a few good months of gaming :smashin: and seeing as Super Monkey Ball is only £17 delivered from Amazon, I might just pick that up too!

Still won't knock the DC off the podium for best Games Console though

there were rumours of a price drop to £59... but I imagine Nintendo will wait and see how the £99 offer does first.

they should introduce the Platinum colour cube over here as well, that would doubtless sell a few more as I'm not paying £190 for an import one!

£60 would be a ridiculous price. I can imagine sales rocketing but how much would Nintendo lose on each unit at that price?

Oh well...with so many games due this year I don't care how low the price goes. I've already got my value out of the machine.

F Zero this summer.. Now that will be a game to convert the masses IMO

very true... i hadn't thought of it like that.

R123 remember there are also rumours that the Cube costs just £20 to manufacture... that's why Nintendo can afford to drop the price to silly levels, they also don't have to pay any of the DVD lincensing fees or technology that PS2 and X-Box do.

They've dropped the price to £99 as they're trying to dump all of their stock of the console and they won't be buying anymore of them, due to poor sales. A shame IMO. I have one, plus a PS2, Xbox, GBA and PC and it gets its share of playing time. The Resident Evil games are just stunning.

I've just picked one up from Game who price matched
with Dixons. 100 Inc Mario. Bargain.
Interestingly Currys would not do a price match even though
they are the same company. Derrr.

Yeah I heard that a while ago. tbh I don't believe that for one minute. At the very least (IMO) it would cost £30-£40 per unit (just for the technology). Then chuck in costs of packaging, overheads, transport (both international and national once it reaches Britain). Then add supplier costs and retailer mark-up.

Personally I don't see how it would sell for so little for a long period of time. Dixons selling it for £100 with a game is an exception as its a special promotion. Once it ends the price will stabilise around £80-£90 IMO

Of course I could be wrong - just speculating :)

    Hi

Argos have it for less than 80 quid with a game and memory card. How cheap is that. I may buy a second for my other room, because I want a third pad, and another memory card and game, and that would cost the best part of 60 quid on its own.

Yeah Argos are doing the cube for £78.99 and when the GBA SP is released over here there is a voucher to get £30 off a cube with it.

now £48.99 for a cube is just getting silly :smashin:

I think it would mean £30 off the RRP - otherwise retailers would have the right to refuse to sell you a Cube for such low prices

Would be nice to dream though...:(

Actually, Microsoft foisted the DVD licensing onto the DVD remote, which is why the XBox doesn't play DVDs unless you buy the remote. Smart move, IMO. I've already got a DVD player, and a computer, so I don't need to play DVDs on my XBox.

I just find it amazing that Nintendo have a console which costs less than £50 to manufacture and matches x box in every way in terms of games performance, seems they have got it right big time join that to the fact a year on NO ONE has hacked it it shows they really think about what they are doing :)

Yeh Argos is selling the Cube with Memory Card & Game for £78.99 ( With is a dame good price )

But you don't get to choose Mario Sunshine , only from the other
    games said before ,

So the big thing is will places like Toyz R Us start to lower the
price of the Cube ? ?

Also that carn't go any lower in price or can it ? ?

I won't get into the specifics, because more educated posters have explained the spec differences in the past. But, the XBox simply has a lot more computing power than the Gamecube. (which is why it costs so much to make) If you're getting comparable games on both systems, that's down to good development on Nintendo's part. But, don't forget that the XBox has built-in hard drive and network gear.

No one's hacking it because they use a proprietary disk format. There's no point to develop a mod chip for the Cube if the machine won't accept CD or DVD-roms. Choosing to make the system just for games (ie, won't play CDs or DVDs) makes it easy to protect.

Specs mean ansolutley nothing, why do people have to real off specs to hype a console? no one cares how powerful it is its all down to the games and on games alone nothing on xbox, looks any better than on the cube. And when a game is released on both consoles by the same company they look near identical on both systems thats all i need to know or see, the xbox has a hard drive yes but from all the uses i have been told about none of them appeal to me atall (not saying they wont for others) EDIT the fast loading times are a must but it seems that feature never gets used, as XBOX does not have the fastest loads times

and point is based on the fact nintendo got it right making a low cost CONSOLE not an entertainment machine, many people all ready have a DVD player why pay more for that feature? why not pay juts £80 for a games console? the amount of power in that cube is awesome for the low manufacturing costs,

Also your point about the no DVD/CD been behind the hackers, i dont know for sure but last time i checked even the panasonic Q could not play copied gamecube games, (may be different now)

interesting point about the load times... there are virtually none on the Cube games I have seen so far... all of the loading seems to take place in the background during gameplay. certainly I can't remember seeing one of those "now loading" screens.

It has been cleverly done, however it can be a little annoying on Metroid Prime, when you are getting creamed and waiting for a door to open as it is loading the next room.
