I bought a GC on friday (like the res of the planet). I've to wn to today to find a RGB scart cable. I've found the real Nintendo one (a bit steep at 19.99 but there you go) the guy in the shop told me that one the real Nintendo cable is RGB and the others are just SCART leads (is this true?). The picture thru the RGB is breathtaking, everything is sharper and cleaner, my jaw just fell open when i saw Super Monkey Ball, while Extreme 3G is quite simply awesome!!

Now, and here is the rub, as the cable doesn't have any phono out sockets how the hell do i connect it to my amp?

Is the position that you can either have great picture and poor sound or vice versa?

    Cheers

Yes mate it is true only the official scart will give RGB for the moment.
As for connecting to your amp?
Have you got the fixed audio outs on the back of your tv connected to your amp?
If so you will get sound to your amp this way admittedly not the best solution but one that will work?
I have my GC connected by component from the digital out(picture only)and the composite scart with left and right phonos connected only for sound in the analogue av out.
    The picture is jawdropping.

    Hope this helps:confused:

if you mean S- video (ie small round one) then yes - except that its under a flap on the front of the telly and it looks really unsightly.

No mate I mean component 3 phono cables Red Blue Green which carry the picture only.
The GC will not output a s-video signal (but this may change when third partys get there act together)
I suggest you waite a few weeks for another RGB scart to be released with seperate left and right audio leads on it.

    Hope This helps:D

I didn't know the Gamecube supported component video, I'm definitely getting tempted to buy one now.:) :)
