I am trying to use a 4 axis, 12-button game pad i just bought for CSS. i can't get my analog sticks to work like they do on an x-box for example. You know, the left stick to strafe side to side and move back and forth AND the right stick to look around. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there is a way to fix it. Any cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Why use a joy pad out of interest?

I'm sure you'll not last too long against someone using a keyboard and mouse but this is just my opinion;)
If it's because you are not accustomed to a mouse and keyboard? If that's the case I'd suggest you give it a go since you'll pick it up fairly quickly and it's a lot more quicker and accurate than using a joypad.

sorry I was unable to help with your question btw.

    Game.....Pad?.....for CS Source?....... :suicide:

    Surely you jest!

That is also just my opinion!
Im not sure that the game was desiged with game pads in mind so might not be easy to get one to work.

Still they are programable, so if you can find some software or another to make it work then it should!

But seriously, have you tried playing it with a keyboard and mouse?
You do realise that CS Source is full of Hardcore gamers that wont take pity on you if you are a noob, and will most likely laugh then throw you out of their servers if you mention that you are using a pad? :D
    CS is very unforgiving!

Thankfully only a minority of hardcore knob jockeys average age 13.

Try the nostromo , its a keypad with some mapable keys and special function buttons and a thumb controller. Much more comfortable than a keyboard but you still use the mouse. Cheap too its under 20quid.

I recently bought a Joytech USB Neo S for about £8 from play.com.
It is almost identical in design to an Xbox controller and the software enables you to map any keyboard key to the buttons and to mimick the mouse with the analogue sticks.
It comes pre-loaded with configurations for quite a few games, inc. Counter Strike and Doom 3.
I've just started playing Doom 3 and I have to say that this pad is great but it was'nt long before I reverted back to keyboard and mouse.
