The series "Game Of Thrones", originally exclusive to SKY's Atlantic channel, is now scheduled to be repeated on SKY 1.

The series will start from the begining at 10PM Monday on SKY 1 and SKY 1 HD.

And with "Smash" currently showing on Sky Living, it looks like Sky might actually be doing something nice of it's customers for a change. Plus they've put "Stargate Universe" on their FTA channel, PickTV. More please, Sky.

You can't get rid of it, but why any need to? You are not forced to click on the option and it doesn't cause any inconvenience by its presence.

It is strange how VM have given it such status though

Like many virgin folk i was a little brassed off that we didn't get Sky Atlantic just for Game of Thrones for whatever the reasons, so i suspect virgin had a lot of calls about it when it came out so maybe this is there way of saying hey we have it now...but of course its a little late for some of us so seeing it shoved in our faces on the home menu well its a little strange, still for others that never brought the blu/dvd set perhaps not..

I am one of those who hasn't bought the DVDs so have now watched the first episode and looking forward to more.
The choice of colour palette is interesting though; have they got a surplus of grey coming to its use-by date?

You make me doubt myself now. Did you not feel that the overall colour scheme was grey?
I believe it was a deliberate choice to create a very distinctive, almost filmic, look for the program.
I liked it but maybe i imagined it, I'll have to see if it's still in my recently deleted list and have another look.

I found the cinematography to be of a very high standard. I don't think colour was removed post production and think it more a matter of the set lighting that gives the impression of the settings being bleak. Anyway, it works and is by no means detrimental to the series.

    I've the BD box set.

After watching some of the "Making of" material relating to the series it is aparent that the costume designers chose to use a very limited colour palette for the Northern locations, mainly grey and blue. This could also be why you perceive grey as being predominant, especially seeing as the first episode in primarily set in the north?

Like Dante says the colours are part of the set. When you go to the city with the Lannisters it is much more gold and blue and vibrant. Again when you are with the Dothraki ( not sure that is spelt right ) they live with horses surrounded by lots of very green fields. So the producers use the colour to help set the temperature and the scene.
I will admit to never having seen it on television yet as i too bought the Blu ray box set. But i read about the colour somewhere else.

Reading that back it does not make it clear what i meant - the different parts of the world are made clearer by the use or lack of colour. If i remember correctly the first episodes are mainly set in the north and the wall where it is very cold and miserable - hence the grey :) If it still looks grey when you see more glamorous settings then i am stuck....

Thanks for all the comments, my mentioning of grey was supposed to be casual but you have made me think more about the lighting and the cinematography, I shall pay more attention in episode 2 once I find out if... Ah, best not write any spoilers in case some have yet to see it.

Here's looking forward to episode 2.

Game of Thrones season 2 - no plans for Sky1 broadcast

Virgin Media High Definition & TiVo Services: Game of Thrones season 2 - no plans for Sky1 broadcast

I kind of suspected this when I intially became aware of SKY airing series one on SKY1. It makes more sense for SKY to entice viewers on other platforms with the first series and then make it so you've to subscribe to SKY to see the second series.

A shame though nevertheless because my enjoyment for the first season has grown each week.
Perhaps if I'm patient though it'll eventually appear.

Just buy the box sets. The video and audio are better quality.

Yes I'm sure that's true, I imagine a BluRay version would look amazing.
The trouble is that I have limited time for TV and I've built up a significant backlog since signing up for TiVo.

Ha ha, I'm not sure that "bad" is the word I'd use but it's certainly true that 1TB holds a heck of a lot of telly.
What I need is for the TiVo to record it for me then tell me what happened and if it was any good and then I won't need to sit through it at all.

The best feature is the ability to set it to overwrite content when the disk is full. This saves you an emense amount of time having to ever actually watch what you've recorded. You can simply leave the TiVo to its own devices, automatically recording what it thinks you'll like while deleting it when you don't watch it. All you really need now is a trained monkey to press the thumbs up button :smashin:

There are already rumours circulating about Virgin training monkeys for release early next year?

    and before you ask …

no carl, they are not giving away free monkeys and they are not looking for beta testers! :nono:
