By and large, R1 discs tend to have better extras and production values than their R2 (particularly UK) counterparts.

But one exception is the Hong Kong Legends label. I have just bought the "Game Of Death" double disc and it is breath taking. I won't bore you with the extras (check out any dealer for specifications) but it's the definative version of the fim.

This region 2 company has restored my faith in the quality of UK releases. All of the Bruce Lee movies on the HKL label are excellent, and compared to the lousy region 1 FOX releases, beats them in every apsect. Picture quality, audio, extras, respective versions of the movies.

There is still hope. So next time you're grinding your teeth because of the differences between US & UK version of say "Shrek"; don't despair. Pick up a title from HKL and feel smug that it's infinately superior to any region 1 copy.

Mr F, you are quite right. On disc one of the HKL boxset, you have the 1978 cut of the movie. This features lots of bad doubles and extracts from Lee's previuos movies. However, the last 20 minutes is footage of Lee and is excellent. The movie is poor in some respects but the finale is superb.

On disc two there is 40 minutes of fight sequences, edited together according to Lees original notes. In 72 he envisaged Game Of Death as a totally different movie. He started filming but stopped to do Enter The Dragon (and get his first international big break)

Storyline for GOD as Lee saw it, was very spirtual and philosophical. These 40 minutes of footage on disc two make the purchase worth the price alone.

For a full breakdown of whats on the disc check out the reveiw below:

If you like quality martial arts and Bruce Lee movies, then this is a must buy
