all the game stores are doing a trade in any 2 games and get a new dvd for 99p. so today i went through the local shop and found 2 games at a whopping £1.97 each, bought them, then asked for shrek 2 and gave them back in with 99p, job done. includes all new releases as well so i may go back tommorow and see what other games i can see

Are there any details about this on their website? And do Ps One games count? How about N64, or is that pushing it?

    Regards

I went in today its any 2 Xbox, PS2, Gamecube & Gameboy games, you can mix formats but can't use duplicate copies.

The DVD are limited but this is the list I can remember:

    Shrek 2
    Van Helsing
    Dawn of the Dead
    Troy
Harry Potter and the Prisinor of Azkaban
    I robot
    Spiderman 2
    Day After Tomorrow

They are all 2 disc sets but if they have run out they wll give the 1 disc version instead.

Got Shrek 2 (1 disc - they dont stock the 2 disc version) for £7, 2 second hand games for 2.99 each and then 99p on top.

Deal continues until December this year, so I guess I will be dropping in there more often as there is a second habd game shop next to my local GAME store that has loads of games for as little as 2.99

well i was wrong about game, i got a game for £1.97 and another for £2.97 which means whatever dvd i end up getting will cost £5.93. All they had was Shrek 2 single disc version, and The Day After Tomorrow, and the theatrical cut of Dawn Of The Dead, so i wasn't interested in any of those, i'm going to return when Harry Potter comes out, wasn't too keen on it so paying £5.93 is ideal.

went to my branch in romford with 4 old games (2 of them football ones) they wouldn't except the football ones as they 'had hundreds of them'. I checked about any others, and they also won't except wrestling games.

does anyone know if this is a country wide policy?

I got rid of Devil May Cry, Pool Master (I know..), Spy Hunter and GTA3 - all played out. They had a limited choice but got the two I was after, Dawn of the Dead Directors Cut and 2 disc Day After Tomorrow. Bargain!

Thanks for the info on the Footie Games and Wrestling Games, I went into Gamestation and nearly bought Pro Evo 2 and Fifa for £2.99 and £1.99 each for trade in purposes (close call!)

Tried out the offer this afternoon. Had a word with an assistant first to check exactly what games i could trade and ended up buying two games for 99p with bogo half price. Joked with the assistant when i paid for them as he said he knew what i was up to, and he had done similar.
Spent about an hour searching other stores, and ended up
with six games for 8.44. Returned to game to be told by a second guy that they wouldn't accept psone games. The first guy apologised and i sheepishly walked out.
Five of the games were not too bad, but anyone have any ideas what i can do with Westlife's "Fan o Mania" - 500 questions covering every aspect of the band.

Excellent try Mr. Damage, I guess you could pop that Westlife thing on ebay, are Westlife not quite in still. I can't wait to get to a game store and try this offer out for myself. They did a similar thing with trade in 4 games and get a new game for a tenner but I'm sure they had taken all the really cheap second hand games off the shelves.

All the Games in my local game are at least £4.97. Have been religously bidding on games on eBay never bidding more than £3.50 iinc postage - no football, no wrestling, all PS2 or Xbox. Finally got six games and will be popping into game tomorrow to claim my reward.

One thing to consider depending on how new the game is, is will they pay you more for these games than they are worth as trade ins for DVDs?

Games must be PS2, Xbox, Gamecube or Gameboy Advance, in good condition with manuals, no wrestling, no football. That's it.

some of the Game shops are advertising this offer openly, but some are not. I've also noticed that the game shops I've been in don't have anything cheaper than 4.97.

ok, so you can still save about £6 on some of the dvds doing this (ie for shrek 2 at £16.99, you get £8 each for your games and 99p cash), but then you could probably save more than this by going to cdwow etc.......

PS the guy that served me asked for my reward card. do you reckon they're keeping tabs on how many we're buying? ;)

did my trade today for Harry Potter 3, but almost got stitched up because one of the titles i was trading "seek and destroy" kept coming up as excluded.

The first game store i went to refused to trade it, despite it not being a football or wrestling game. I protested but they weren't having any of it.

Luckily there's another Game shop in the same high street which used to be an EB, and it also came up excluded there, but the deputy manager and manager said they would take it anyway and just do a manual discount on the dvd.

    So I got Harry Potter 3 for £1.97 + £2.97 + 99p = £5.93 saving me £11.06, pretty nice

In colchester, there are 2 game shops, but all their games aer now £7.97 or more.

There is also a MVC and a Cash Converter, with games starting from £4 on both ps2, xbox, gamecube and non wrestling/football games.

And finally a gamestation, where there are lots of £3.99 and up, and only one £2.99 so no £2.99 games or less. What a shame.

£7.98 is too high price to pay when u guys got it for lower.

If you buy 2 games at £4 each then it will only cost you £9 for a new release DVD - whats the problem ?

I saw today that my local Blockbusters have a load of PS2 (and poss other formats but didn't look) trade-in games for £2.99 each, meaning you can get a new DVD from Game using this offer for £7.00.

Nice one Charlton-fan, I forgot to check blockbusters. Will have a look tomorrow.
£7 sounds much better than £8 or £9 ;p (sorry, mkcheznous, its kind of psychological limit)

i seriously cannot see how game can be making any money from this. I have so far traded in 8 crappy games (oni platinum, poolmaster, state of emergency etc etc) for 4 brand spanking new dvd's, i mean all the games that GAME take in for trade are being sold for £7.97 and honestly would you pay nearly £8 for poolmaster with half a battered case and no instructions!!!

no problem - bought xmen 2 - 2disk in Milton Keynes Market for £6 today.

I checked Blockbusterss in MK today for PS2 games but couldn't find any under £4.99.

They did have Troy 2disk, Shawn of the Dead, Van Helsing, Dawn of the Dead in their 3 for £20 offer in case anybody is interested.
