Cool - I usually watch the show anyway, even if they do spout a load of drivel half the time. Suzi is always worth watching in my book

Be interesting to hear their take on the 360 too... :)

Can't stand the show! The other week they were doing a special on HDTVs and toasters! The presenters are rather annoying, they always seem to think the viewers have absolutetly no idea about any of the products being tested. On that show, they informed viewers, apparently the only way to get HDTV is via a HDMI socket on an LCD or plasma! :rotfl:

Yeah I wasn't too impressed with their HDTV reviews either - they didn't even test either the Pioneer or the Panasonic so no wonder they weren't very impressed :D

Thought the toaster test was quite amusing - especially the way they managed to keep a straight face when comparing and tasting pieces of toast!

To be fair, possibly a lot of their audience don't have much of an idea... AVForum members are not an ideal yardstick by which to compare Joe Public :D

is this the same show that was trying to tell me that DAB is higher quality than FM?

sure more consistent reception, but higher quality?

I met him in a shop a couple of weeks back and he was telling us about his trip to red storm, shooting sniper rifles and stuff.

He mentioned the new Rainbow 6 game too.

I don't know how they compared those HD LCD properly. I bet none of them where properly calibrated. They mentioned that one had dull colours. Well turn the colour up a little then. And like you say there was no Panasonic or Philips in the test. Oh yes and they forgot to mention you can get hi def from a 360 either through the games or windows media. Still watch it though as there is no other gadget show. What ever happened to Tomorrows World? I know it's not a gadget show but I do miss it.

They pulled the plug on it a few years ago - I used to love that show, but during the late 90's it really went down the pan so I stopped watching it... obviously so did the majority of their other viewers... :rotfl:

i think tomorrows world went because all the easy to explain futuristicky things were already in shops to buy....lol

and the average 7-9pm BBC1 viewer doesnt usually have the intelligence to understand anything deeply scientific.....heh

I like the Gadget show but agree the reviews are somewhat flawed sometimes, Not alot else to choose from im afraid these types of programs are few and far between.

Was funny the other week when they were reviewing MP3 players and the guy was listening to them with only one earphone in, No way your gonna get a decent sound/effect with only half the sound:rolleyes:

Yeah I watched it - I think working as one of their games testers would put off playing games for life! To be honest most of the "feature" consisted of clips from trailers and gameplay that I've already seen - that guy he interviewed has done something similar already in one of the marketplace videos (I think).

I did find Jason's review of the cardboard cut-out Revolution controller to be quite funny and I am glad the panda reviewed the Sky Gnome 'cos I was thinking about buying one, but don't think I'll bother now...

It worked really well, great reception through walls etc, can control channels on your Sky box with it etc - but the sound quality was absolute rubbish, and from what I could hear he was spot on. Think it had a couple of 1 watt speakers that just distorted the sound on most channels/stations... shame :(

It was nice to see someone actually telling the truth about DAB radio too (crap reception and lower than FM quaility) - this was how the feature started with them touting the gnome as a possible solution...

yeah the music sounded pretty bad, nice feature you can turn the channels over using it though.

things like sport commentary might not be very good though as they dont talk like the proper radio commentators do

Cheers for the replies guys, was seriously thinking about getting one of these but if the sound is crap then I think I'll pass.

To be fair I think that was a WIP demo as it seemed to be lacking a lot of the detail that is in the finished version. But yes, it was appalling - I've never had it anywhere near that bad when playing!
