    G2 at 430 is a good price.

For 430 you can have the internals of the G3 in a Canon S45, but you miss out on the externals (flash shoe, bigger optics, flip out LCD, AC adapter included, longer battery life, etc). Internally they use the same chip and share most of the functions.

The S40/45 are the smaller and "less specced externally" models of the G2/G3. Chip wise they are the same

I have the S45. Although the menu has been improved (over the G2/S40) and the processing is supposed to be better, had I seen the G2 at 430 I would have gone for the G2 as most of the changes are about making it easier to use, so the G2 can do a lot of what the G3 can, it may just take a bit more effort (for exampel G3/S45 has very flexible Auto focus/metering, but nothing that cant be achieved by using AF/AE lock on the G2). The practicality of the external spec of the G2 outweigh the improvements of the internals (if you get what I mean). On the other hand if you can wait for a G3......

Buyacamera are selling the G2 for £419. They seem a reliable retailer too from what i've read.
